Route 1 traffic is not as busy on the Saturday of the Victoria Day weekend as it has been in the past. There is no 1600h from TSA.
Thursday and Friday was busy for the major routes.

Just overheard an interview with Deb Marshall, the 11:40 from departure bay is full for both vehicles and foot passengers, and people are already lining up for the 12:50.

Just overheard an interview with Deb Marshall, the 11:40 from departure bay is full for both vehicles and foot passengers, and people are already lining up for the 12:50. hmmm, it took me a few seconds to figure out the reason for the heavy traffic. Just for the privilege of standing in a street with a bunch of yelling people. - I can do that on Hammond Bay Road on a Friday night, with Scott and Kam. Probably not quite the same atmosphere though... ;D

How often do you see this, 3 different vessels sailing on Route 3 in one day. Queen of Coquitlam is covering the morning sailings, and the Queen of Surrey will take over starting with the 2:45pm sailing from Langdale. Also, the Queen of Cowichan is scheduled to make a round trip while doing the triangle route, departing Horseshoe Bay at 6:20pm and departing Langdale at 7:25pm

Long weekend here we go.
The SOVI is 30 minutes behind schedule and has been behind since the 1500h sailing. The Surrey is also running 30 minutes late. The Oak Bay is currently 40 minutes behind. The Alberni is 23 minutes behind.
Route 1 is busy with its last sailing at 2200h with a 65% load from TSA. Route 30 from TSA is also busy for the final sailing at 2245h. It is full for overheights and almost full for underheights. I heard on the radio that the 2245h was full for overheights. Obviously, those were being rerouted to route 1 to get over to the island.
The last sailing at HSB on route 3 at 2235h is 68% full.

Even Route 8 was busy today; there was a one sailing wait for much of the day and the Capilano was 36 minutes late at its last sailing from HSB.
Route 3 finished operations tonight with a 20 minute delay for the Surrey.
Route 30 eastbound saw the Alberni's last sailing leave at 11:02. Route 30 westbound was on time.

At Departure Bay there have been one-sailing waits on-and-off all day today (Saturday). Isn't that kind of odd for a Saturday afternoon? Maybe the weather is so bad, people are deciding to come home early.

The Cowichan is doing a MD round trip today at 1215h and 1430h on route 2. This should be a daily sailing instead of Thurs. to Mon.
Route 3 is busy with OH traffic. Both terminals have OH waits.

The BC Day weekend has begun. Route 30 is the busiest. There are two waits for overheights in both directions which means those people are waiting for the 2015h sailing. That is about 7 hours. Just one wait for underheights. It looks like OH traffic from TSA will be full as the last two sailings are at 87% and 90% respectively.
The other routes do not have multiple waits. The TSA to Gulf Islands is almost filled up for all its sailings.

Route 2 eastbound was full about 40 minute before the last sailing today. Toll booth gates locked -- no MD sailing.
Last route 30 eastbound sailing is 64% full as of 9pm. 67% at 9:30pm. 78% full at 10pm. Sailed on time 64% full.
No strandees at Nanaimo tonight, but anyone who was expecting to get home near HSB will have a long, late, drive ahead of them from TSA.
9pm SOVI sailing from TSA out with a full load. 10pm CCel sailing 33% committed at 9:27. Sailed on schedule 38% full.
Last sailing from Langdale 98% full as of 9:16pm. Full at 9:30 with strandees left at the toll booths. No MD sailing. Strandees on the Sunshine Coast are stuck until morning.

www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2011/08/01/bc-ferries-borders-travel.html No major delays for B.C. Day for travellersTravellers heading across the border or to BC Ferries terminals were not facing long delays as of early Monday afternoon. There were virtually no lineups at any BC Ferries terminals throughout the day, though the routes connecting the mainland to Vancouver Island saw the highest traffic. The smaller routes — between Denman and Hornby islands, and between Vancouver Island and Denman Island — were also quite busy throughout the day Monday. Officials warned Tuesday would be a busy travel day. Travellers were warned to expect multiple sailing waits for much of the day on the Tsawwassen–Swartz Bay and Horseshoe Bay–Departure Bay routes. Border wait times Traffic heading south into the U.S. was heavy for much of the day, but that changed Monday evening as travellers headed back into B.C. The longest lineup was a one-hour wait at the Pacific Highway crossing, followed by a 45-minute wait at Peace Arch. Travellers were warned to expect a 20-minute wait at Boundary Bay and 10-minute delays at Huntingdon. By Monday evening, traffic heading into the U.S. died down, with waits of about 10 minutes expected at Pacific Highway, Peace Arch, Lynden and Point Roberts.

Traffic from Nanaimo is very busy. Three waits for overheights at Duke Point and the 2015h sailing for OH traffic is 75% full. Only one wait for underheights. From TSA, just one wait for all traffic. At Dep. Bay, one wait for all traffic and the 1510h is filling up fast. The Cowichan is doing three round trips today. At HSB, two waits for folks heading to Nanaimo. Route 3 from Langdale has one wait and the Coquitlam did 2 round trips this morning. No waits on route 1.

I dont know where else to post this but looks like BC Ferries is gearing up for the Thanksgiving weekend as they have added and extra run from Powell River to Comox and return with the North Island Princess leaving Powell River 12:50 pm Oct 10, Nov 10 & 13 only and Comox 3:05 pm Oct 10, Nov 10 & 13 only. I dont think we have seen the NIP run to Comox in a few years so that should be interesting. This is according to the Travel Centre but they still have the NIP listed as doing a 12:45pm to Texada so who knows what's going on.

I had been under the impression that TC didn't allow open-decked ferries to cross the Strait of Georgia outside of the summer months. Of course obvious exceptions could be possible such as our NIP not being of the Powell River or Cumberland Class (which lack an upturned bow, etc.), November being in the fall and not winter, etc. This certainly would be a trip, if it goes ahead, that I'd want to voyage with though.

The NIP is already set for Near Coastal II crossings even with going back and forth to Texada. I suppose that route is exposed enough to justify her being classed for those waters. Most of the Minor and intermediate vessels are classes for Sheltered Waters. So it makes sense that they are able to use her for the crossing to Comox. Although, I don't know how I'd feel about riding as a passenger myself...

Today's storm has cancelled sailings and has made for sailing waits at the terminals.
There is a 3 sailing wait on route 1 from SWB and 2 waits from TSA. That means people getting to SWB right now are lining up for the 2100h sailing!
On route 30, one wait for all traffic from TSA with 2 waits for overheights and one wait for underheights at Duke Point.
Route 2 has two waits from Dep. Bay which means people are now lining up for the 2100h as well. Just one wait from HSB.
