Maybe you will just want to ignore this....... About 6 weeks ago, I took a trip on 5 WSF ferries over 2 days. It was great to get outta town for a while, and also to get a few pictures. But I just had the wrong camera for doing what I wanted to do. Well, from the few really usable pictures I got, I decided to go out and get a "real" camera. (Or at least more real than I had.) Anyway, it's like this. You get the camera. You take a picture of the front of the electronics store. I need to take a picture of a FERRY though! So it turns out I'm not far from the only ferry for 50 miles in any direction, so I take the long way home. That, and I wanted to try things out before taking a real weekend in a couple of weeks. That being said, that's why you're seeing a couple of photos of the Canby Ferry, known as the M.J. Lee II, that crosses the Willamette River 20 miles south of Portland between the suburbs of Canby and Wilsonville. The M.J. Lee II holds 9 cars and 49 passengers. If they're all really friendly: The crew of 2 takes the mighty ship across at about 6 MPH, on a trip of about 400 feet across the river: Just in case something happens, this keeps the ferry from going over Willamette Falls, 6 miles downstream: Woo Hoo! A view from the front: Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Hey, that's a neat little setup they got there. And enjoy the new gear. Love that colors and sharpness of the photo showing the entire ferry along with the road in the background.

I like this one. You just managed to get Mount Garibaldi in the left side of this photo. I would have been working directly below that mountain at a University, slaving away on a hot roof, just wishing to go out on a Ferry to get that nice cool breeze.

Now in this one: i169.photobucket.com/albums/u237/mainlander101/IMG_3073.jpgThere is a poster waving in the wind underneath the bridge. I just noticed it on Wednesday, when I was reviewing my pictures, so I ventured down to Little River terminal on my bike, and they had taken it away. Any Powell River member (or any member) who saw this poster, perhaps you could shed some light on this. The photo was taken last Tuesday I believe.

It's so rare that we get aerial photos of our fleet, and those photographs are the tops. Thank for those, Karl

karlsferryphotos.fotopic.net/c1304857.html starting with the 3rd page down are new interior shots and different shots of the Mayne Queen as I was able to get these as there was only 3 cars on the sailing from Saturna to Swartz Bay Sat night so it was perfect for interior photos!

So... it's good when ferries are empty, so that ferry fans can get pictures without any of those pesky customers getting in the way... So that's why those things are sailing around out there....

Great photography, Michael. I especially enjoyed your use of sepia in the first two and the panning-for-ferries-esque shot of the Queen of Capilano at Horseshoe Bay, let alone the fun you seemed to be having using tricks of the sun - nice framing on those.

Queen of Nanaimo pulling out of Long Harbour(SaltSpringIsland):
15-30 minutes later a Puddle hopper comes into Long Harbour(SaltSpringIsland):
a couple days later:
