Hey, the Quinsam now has the same style of "monkey bars" at her ends as those on the Quinitsa. If I hadn't known any better, I would have thought that that was the Quinitsa.

Here are a few photos you didn't see from my Island Sky trip A few days ago. An Earlier Photo of One You've Already Seen. During the Lull. Secondary Berth, Earls Cove. Coming into Earls Cove. Here's a great feature of open deck vessels I never noticed until that day. You can't get views like this on the Tsawwassen/Chilliwack from the car deck. Though you'll notice that the Chilliwack is picking up rust in spots. Miss Chilliwack and Miss Sky. Okay this kind of bothers me. It's like they want us to pull a Graham. However I try to avoid things that could get me in trouble with the law so Peeking through the fence is good enough for me. A bit of Artistic Photography. Miss Chilliwack from over by the Govt. Wharf.
Now back to things I've only started noticing. Builders Plaques of Jervis Inlet's Old Blackball Berth. Or at least of the bridge frames. The 1st from Saltery Bay and the 2nd from a few weeks ago Earls Cove. I might post more later.

Gah, given the Kuper, Island Sky and Northern Adventure - is BC Ferries mandate now to acquire the ugliest possible ferries for the highest possible expense? Because they're certainly doing a good job at that.

Miss Chilliwack and Miss Sky. Stop calling her Miss Chilliwack... that just seems so utterly wrong. 'Miss' is just not a title you can associate with this particular ferry... it's far too delicate.

I guess it's more formal to call them by their proper name's. But it's not the end of the world.

Ah, nothing like a refreshing orange sunset. I don't get to see a sunset like that where I live because there are mountains to the west and too close.

Never posted these: Oct8-2008 The day Coastal Renaissance ran route 30 - landing at Tsawwassen: Spirit of Vancouver Island Approaching in behind Spirit of Vancouver Island approaching Active Pass. Mayne Island Lighthouse Spirit forward lookout-->Reason why Spirits Rule&Coastals suck. OK exagerrating but, I am very disappointed in the top lookout on Coastals. Scarry standing next to the exposed railings. Galiano Island - Sturdies Bay Terminal Bellhouse Provincial Park Queen of Vancouver Ruckle Park - Salt Spring Island Approaching Swartz Bay: Coastal Celebration Coastal Celebration - Queen of Saanich Comparison:

Do you mean you think the railing on the Coastal is scary?

I prefer the forward area on the Coastals to the Spirits. They're roomier, less windy and higher up. What more could you ask for? Hunting around for that elusive stagnation point on the front of the Spirits is not nearly as fun as it sounds!
Nevertheless, ALL of our ferries suck compared to the Coho in terms of forward viewing. Nothing even comes close!
BTW The fact that the NorEx has no forward viewing area is SUPER LAME!

The Surrey sure looks nice and shiny. Hopefully they do the same for her twin sister this coming refit.
Hi Sean, and welcome aboard.
The Saanich is indeed still at Deas. The photos you see a few posts back are from a number of months ago.

Thank you for the welcome messages, been an avid "ferry enthusiast"? since I was young, was on the #1 route almost every weekend when I was in my teens, I used to have the Welcome Aboard recording in my head word for word. The Surrey does look nice, and took my last run on the QPR, gonna miss that ship too, but the Norex is beautiful
