Photos Ahead!I've been back for awhile now from my round trip on the Chilliwack and I must say, this sunny day makes it easily one of my best trips aboard her. Some noticeable differences that separate her from when she is on the Saltery Bay route include that the customer service desk is open as a tourist information stand. The cafeteria also serves fries and chicken strips (but her grill and fryers were broken when I was aboard today, coincidence?) Also, the room where the arcade machines are has been gutted out. I'm not sure if this is normal when she is on the Discovery Coast route or if it's because she was not finished with her refit. Anyways, before I start rambling on, here are the photos from today... Mid-Malaspina Strait Here's the sequence for the Chilliwack's 180 turn. And there you have it...Hopefully Mike (A.K.A. Flugel) got some shots of this from the passenger's point of view since they ran her as a double-ender for my round trip. Watertight Door. (Only necessary for half the voyage) Here comes the NIP. The trip was pretty uneventful, but it was a nice day, who could complain? Little River (At Low Tide, Almost amazing that the Chilli could dock) From Little River... Now back aboard... Away we go again... Bridge (From Both Ends) The Solarium (Still a month away from being useful. Seaspan Barges... And the NIP one more time... Now, we dock... This concludes the photos from today, Peace!

The Queen of Chilliwack has ALWAYS operated as a double ender, regardless of the route she is on. I can't really see whey she should operate as a single ender, unless there is a problem with one of the ship-board ramps.

Nice photos! Even though she isn't the most eye pleasing I still think she is the most interesting with all the nooks and crannies.

When she is running on the Discovery Coast, they only use 2 engines and run her as a single ender. Only one end has a watertight door (I can't remember which), so they use that end as the bow.

Paul, I'm with you 100%. There's very little about the 'Chilliwack that I like. Ugly as sin on the outside, a car deck that's like a dirt road with the potholes not filled, and I can't imagine where everyone would sit if they ever got close to the maximum allowable pax as the lounge seating is inadequate. Yes, there are lots of nooks and crannies- mainly because the ship is so poorly designed. And she's so slow that she can't even keep to the leisurely schedule the 'Burnaby has. Poor thing.

I've got 2 short video clips of her doing turn-arounds both near Little River and near Westview. I'll post them in the new thread that I've created for the Chilly-Comox pics.

(except for when they are barbecuing salmon in Burke Channel on Thursday nights). The open water of Georgia strait (for this week) and of the northern waters is the reason for operating as a single ender (of course, this is necessary because only the #1 end has a water-tight door).

Yes Paul, the Chilliwack is not pretty, but is she the ugliest in the fleet, past or present?
That honour, IMHO, belongs to the NorAd, aka Queen of Ugly.

My dubbing of the NORTHERN ADVENTURE is "QUEEN OF PORTHOLES" with all those portholes around her upper works. The "QUEEN OF PORTHOLES" leaves Port Hardy on time, Saturday, May 16, 2009, on another northern adventure. She heads out. The scenery out her observatory will be, once again, framed within portholes. Her single whistle sounded ! We salute BCF and FSG for the installation of proper observatory windows and the beautiful major chord set of whistles on the NORTHERN EXPEDITION, BC's version of the QUEEN MARY II.
