The two photos shown below were taken on Galiano on July 21st. There is no ferry in either photo. You will have to use your imagination and perhaps you will see the Pender Queen off shore in the lower picture. Same location in the summer of 1970 [photo by the late Dr. Max Edwards of Victoria].

I hope this applies to this thread, my apologies if it doesn't.
I will be visiting Galiano for a week in a week and would love to snap some photos, however I don't have a camera worthy enough of this task, and I was wondering if there is a place I could rent or borrow a good camera?
Preferably on the North shore or on the Sunshine Coast.

Preferably on the North shore or on the Sunshine Coast. I wouldn't really worry about getting fancy cameras. If you ask me, any camera is up to the task of ferry photography Also if you're going to upload photos, I recommend using Flickr because they won't degrade the quality of the photos like some other photo hosting sites.

Who owns it, what is its pupose? Looks like a deep sea purse-seiner. the net is enclosed like a purse and dragged up onto deck through those doors in the stern. Not sure who owns it but boats that big tend to be owned by larger companies that bring the catch right back to their own facilities. Sometimes even ship packers/processors.

Same location in the summer of 1970 [photo by the late Dr. Max Edwards of Victoria]. Beautiful! A photo of the what I think is the Mayne Queen approaching Montague Harbour. I remember going to Galiano when I was 10 years old (summer 1997) and still seeing the Berth structure of the old terminal there.

FURTHER TO MY MEMORIES OF THE UNMANNED RAMP AT MONTAGUE HBR. THERE WAS ONE OTHER SIMILAR ARRANGEMENT AT SATURNA WHEN WE DOCKED THE MAYNE QUEEN THERE IN THE 1960's. MR.DOT. To Mr. D.O.T.: I'm really happy to see you posting comments on this forum. You are legendary in your talents and in your incredible collection of photos and sketches. I thank you for all the fine work that you've done, that so many of us have enjoyed. A pastel-blue dogwood salute to you, sir. Cheers ! oh, and a question for you: - What are some of your favourite locations for taking ferry-photos, over the years? Is Galiano the best spot, that you've enjoyed the most? And were you the first person to discover the Galiano cemetery as being a great photo-spot? just curious....

Here's a reply that "MR DOT" posted to my question about photo locations.
(but he posted as a "report to post" - which is how you complain about an inappropriate post to a moderator - instead of as a "reply", so I've cut & pasted the reply for you to see)
