A recent thread, made me think about this topic today.
I've noticed that on quite a lot of vessels, plaques are missing, stolen, or just not put back up after a refit. My collection of photos has holes in it due to that, and I was wondering if anybody could fill them?
-Bowen Queen (when I went on her last summer, it wasn't there) -Klitsa- only 1 plaque has been put back up. The other one, that would say "Denman Queen" is nowhere to be found. -Queen of Burnaby- I assume that these were lost in the refit. -Queen of Prince Rupert- I'll never get to go on her again, and a photo of her's would be great -Tenaka- These have been stolen. I'm not sure how long though. That would have originally said "Comox Queen" which would be sort of cool. -Queen of Tsawwassen- These have also been stolen, and you can see where they once were.
Once again, if anybody has pictures of these plaques, I would really appreciate it if you could post them!

You can add the Queen of Saanich to that list. Apparently her Builders Plaque was stolen a short while before her retirement. So they took down the other plaques.

To Queen of Nanaimo Teen- I will be doing a round trip on the Queen of Prince Rupert (her last round trip) in late March and will make sure to include pictures of all the plates I can find. During the trip, I hope to gain access to non-public areas of the ship and take pictures of neat and interesting things that have never before been seen by the public. I'll check my picture files and see if I have any of the other plaques you're looking for.

Those Island Sky plaques look really low budget. Did they get them at Walmart?

Those Island Sky plaques look really low budget. Did they get them at Walmart? Just a little excessively negative, maybe. While we are all criticizing: at least it has a name and a plaque. What would you expect, though? The tide of our society is turned and everything is rollback fair from Walmart made as quickly, efficiently (read cheaply and low quality) as possible to feed our insatiable appetite for consumer goods, riiiight...? We can't afford to waste time on higher quality, well made accouterments made with care and a personal touch that didn't just pop out of the same mold as millions of other copies, riiiight...? If they look like they came from Walmart, maybe it's because, with the way our world functions using mentalities of making a buck before anything else, maybe with Walmart plaques we get what we expect, or... just what we deserve.

I have a photo of the Queen of Richmond plaque. I'll modify this post with it, when I find the pic and scan it. Give me a week or so, my stuff is in stored in boxes.

Someone wants to know if the Vs and Bs ever had plaques that credited the designers with something along the lines of: "designed by Phillip Spaulding and associates"?

I seem to recall seeing a plaque along those lines, but there seems to be no way I can remember which ship it was on. I do know that there is one on the Skeena that says it was designed by McLaren and Associates.

I assume that this is the sort of plaque you mean: Such plaques may have once graced the Sidney & Tsawwassen. Perhaps one was on the Tsawwassen right up until the recent bitter end. I recall reading that BCF bought out the V/B class plans after the building of the Vic & Van. After that time there would have been no reason to credit the naval architects responsible for the ship design.

I was the one who was asking The Notorious Mill Bay about the designer's plaques. I remember seeing these plaques as a child, but I cannot remember which ship it was on. But it does make sense, it must have been either the Vic or the Van. ........................................................................................................................................ On a sidede note, was the Suzie-Q some sort of lab experiment?

Not quite a builders sign, but in a similar vein. Tile found at MacFrugals in Tsawwassen!

Here's a new set of plaques you'll be seeing on all of the ferries. This one is on the Howe Sound Queen
