Sorry still have no idea how to do this. I even read the rules so i am going to need help with this. The URL of the photo goes between the [/img] tags. [img]www.insertyourphotourlhere.com[/img] The photo has to be uploaded to a photohost like www.photobucket.com on the internet. You cannot link photos directly from your computer hard drive to the forum.

I just use facebook. I upload them there, then i right click and select properties, then I copy the url, and paste it between the {img}{/img} things on the page, and PRESTO. it always works. I tried it with flickr once, but its more finnicky. It takes longer to upload the photos, and it takes longer to select which photos to upload as well. I'd go with facebook if I were you.

Do you have the various history books on the North Vancouver shipyards? (there are at least 2, maybe more).

The reason i am intrested with shipyards is everything. Including the original hull numbers of the curtain ships. But the hull numbers page has been created all ready so i decided to add the shipyards. And no i have no books on the shipyards i got it all from the internet or google earth. I am also intrested in the location.

Hope you like this Note. these photo's came from Google Earth. These look good. I "right-clicked" on these to see the properties and the top one is 800 and the bottom one is 799, all within the 800 guidelines on this Forum. Sometimes, I may voluntarily resize another poster's picture to the 800 maximum if I feel that the picture is very important enough to be seen on a particular thread, subject to final action/reworking by our moderators. I do this at my own discretion, though.

I was doing my research that i collected and found a shipyard in Pictou, Nova Scotia. I have no idea the name but i believe it is the spot where the only and last steam ship ferry was built on the BC coast. I am taking about the SS Smokwa or BCF's headache. If anyone agrees. So here it is, Aclose up of the site The others are further looks

sorry for going off topic, again, but how wide exactly is 800 px? Right-click on any picture and you'll see the dimensions in the unit-of-measure known as Pixels (PX). So 800px is exactly between 799 & 801 pixels. Whatever program you use to re-size your photos for posting will show the dimensions of the photo in pixels. ========== Hail Smokwa!

For Flugel Horn, Yes i am intrested in seeing pictures of local yards that repair our fleet. This page will be on anything to do with shipyards.
And John H, i have found the location where the QUEEN OF THE NORTH (ex. Stena Danica) was built but it is difficult to tell because it is on a river in a city. I will send you the photo if you like and you can look at it.

Below are excerpts from one of our archived threads: ============= Pics from Friday, December 29, 2006. Location: Nanaimo Shipyard, on Stewart Ave, Nanaimo BC (photos taken from Mobey-D*ck Motel's parking lot & marina). Event: - MV Nimpkish, having a quick visit to shipyard, in between coming off the mid-coast routes, and going on relief to Quadra-Cortes route. - I arrived at 9:30am, as Nimpkish was still in the railed-drydock. - 20 minutes later, the Nimpkish was lowered into the water, on the railed-drydock. I got to see this whole process, complete with occasional hearing of mariner-language choice-words, as the workers worked with the ropes, etc. Here's the website page re the railed-drydock. www.nanaimoshipyard.com/nanaimo_shipyard/facilities.htmlHere are some pics showing the marine railway and the lowering of the ship back into the water:

I haven't been down there for over a year, Flugel. I remember hearing that Nanaimo Shipyards would be closing down. Any further news, or has it happened or was that just a rumor?

I rarely drive past there, so I don't know what's currently happening with the yard. I do know that MV Nicola was there last year getting work done.

I cruised by there last night... There is a fairly large Canadian Navy vessel in the drydock. I seem to recall reading something not too long ago that said this is the largest vessel ever to be drydocked here in Nanaimo.

Here's the reference you likely saw... www.bclocalnews.com/vancouver_island_central/nanaimonewsbulletin/news/50272097.htmlI cruised by there about an hour ago as well, and it looks like quite the extensive refit being done on the ship. All of the wheelhouse windows are boarded up.
