Well, at least I am not the only one, Pamama instead of Panama, LoL! Hold on just a second. 'Pamama' is a typo. The guy pushed the wrong key. 'lasquitea' isn't a typo. It's an unforgivable corruption of a place name that any self-respecting ferry fan should know how to spell, and I think should be punishable by... oh, I don't know... maybe an hour of listening to the Coastal audio clip of how to put on a lifejacket. Be a man. Own your transgressions.

I was hoping someone snap a photo of her addition to the bow put in place to deal with digging her nose into large swells. I did here that the officer's offices and the conference area were converted into sleeping spaces for some of the crew. It seems the Chief Stewart office is set aside for the engineering officers. The children's play area on deck 6 forward was walled in on both sides for non officers sleeping area. Does anyone have more details, or perhaps the truth! Regards

Here are four captures from the Race Rocks cam: SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA and Mount Baker. Couldn't control the clarity of the cam on this one. A better view of the SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA. I tried to get a closeup of the wave breaker. It's painted black. A more detailed photo might show if it's one of three of Mr Brinkmann's own. They're down to two (if they've been kept by BCF) as one of them was welded onto the bow of the QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT, which was scrapped in Mexico. These breakers were installed aboard the three Coastal-Class ferries for their delivery voyages from FSG. The SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA sails off into a little fog and the afternoon sun. We'll see you here next year, MV SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA! SAFE VOYAGE!

SoBC sails out of the basin and down the Fraser River on her journey to Poland... How fabulously convenient to have the SoBC sail away on the same day that the Queen of Nanaimo is retired, and at the same general location. Sometimes things work out for the islander...

September 12, 2017The following images posted by this account are copyright © S.A. ~ Unauthorized use is prohibited. BC Ferries - SoBC bound for Gdansk, Poland. by Scott, on Flickr I guess this photo almost confirms that the wave breaker at the bow would be one of Mr Brinkmann's masterpieces (altered a bit). The SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA passed Los Angeles later this morning. She's making good progress so far. BTW, I edited the destination sign and drew an "N" over the "M". I couldn't stand the misspelling of that country anymore.

The SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA arrived in the Panama area this morning (09-24-2017). PANAMA CANAL CAMS:www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.htmlEDIT:The chart is updated as her destination sign has been corrected to "PANAMA" from "PAMAMA". I guess the folks in Panama sure didn't like the misspelling.

Well now that the first leg of the voyage is complete, I have been wondering how much money will it cost to transit the ship through the canal?

It would be interesting to know how her machinery has fared during the long multi-days non-stop voyage from Deas to Panama? She's used to 90 minute crossings and overnight shutdowns.
