A nice Kahlenberg surprise from the Spirit of BC, today. This is the first decent recording I managed to get of this horn, it always sounds when I am not expecting it!
Now that I listen to it again, it almost sounds like both the horns at once?

It's been like that for some time. They can sound both at the same time and they choose to sometimes (no idea why), but they can also be sounded independently. Case in point:

Case in point: That's a very interesting departure horn sounding... One short Kahlenberg, one regular. I do think it sounds better on its own.

The SOBC wasn't departing, I've had them do this on other 6am departures. I think its a test / good morning salute from the SOBC? Maybe Ferryman could provide context?

Spirit of British Columbia entering Active Pass, today.
This photo reminds me of something I've always wondered about; even in dead calm waters, the Spirits have a bow wake almost up to the car deck. What about in rough water? And doesn't that suggest a significant drag on efficient propulsion? No insight from this layman... I'm just curious.

Spirit of Vancouver Island is headed for Active Pass with the 9 AM sailing from Tsawwassen. This is a telephoto view from the Coastal Celebration which was nearing Tsawwassen en route from Duke Point.

I found this downtown during a shoot today. It is located in the 1300-block of West Georgia on the even side by the shops.

I feel like I need to turn in my ferry nerd card not knowing that existed.

SoBC closes in on Tsawwassen Terminal, Delta, BC, Canada. Flickr seems to think the location is in Washington State. Though very close to the 49th parallel, the terminal is definitely on the north side of that line. 12 September 2024

Spirit of British Columbia has oil catching floating barrier around her back end. Do we know why the SoBC is out of service now? Its normal refit period is not until after Christmas.
