Here is most likely where the SPIRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA was at the time of this posting. In the middle of the "Big Pond".
If she's running at around 18 knots, she'd be covering about 432 miles per 24 hours. Give or take.

I Have spoken with someone onboard the SOBC. He has confirmed the new whistles. He said “I can tell you that the new whistle is monstrously loud, to the point we’ve left the old whistle for use in Active Pass so the people in their beachfront homes don’t jump out of their bunks every time we pull the trigger” So if you want to hear the new whistles it would most likley be at Tsawwassen, unless you have a crew member who wants to scare the folks on the islands

Spirit of BC is almost abeam with Cartagena Colombia as of 12 Noon Pacific. Looks like it could possibly transit the Panama Canal tomorrow? Only if she's wealthy enough for priority transit.
We'll likely be waiting a few days as usual based on the other BCF transits through this busy waterway.
Watch the ship trackers!
When watching ships do their transits in the Panama Canal area, I usually use SIITECH. Highlight the ship of interest.

The geographic area where the Gatun Locks are located. SPIRIT OF BC's current location is highlighted in red.
The entire Panama Canal from Gatun to Miraflores.
When the SOBC transits the Canal, we may see her on their cams (if working) at:
www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html
This is the high resolution view of the Gatun Locks as viewed tonight. They have camera equipment issues. This was likely the only cam working at this time.

These are all cropped to give you as much images possible with moderately low amount of scrolling.

I've got 560 images of the Gatun lock passage and will try for the Miraflores as well. Once I have them all I'll do some image processing and make up a time lapse video. Might take me a day as I'm recovering from eye surgery and ain't supposed to be doing anything

All the best in your recovery.
The video can wait until you're better.
Meanwhile, the SOBC is a little more than ten miles away from her home side of our continent of North America.

I've made timelapse videos of Spirit of BC going through the Panama Canal Gatun and Miraflores locks. One of these days we'll get a daylight transit and better image quality .... patbaywebcam.com/spiritbc.php#panama

Really curious to know how much of this trip was done under LNG and how much was diesel...

Really curious to know how much of this trip was done under LNG and how much was diesel... I have wondered about that too. I have figured that the answer is that very little LNG fuel is being consumed as it is not as readily available at the fuelling stops along the way as is MDO. Perhaps I am wrong about that.

Spirit of BC will be abeam off Puerto Vallarta Mexico in a couple of hours.
Doing the math from Cruise ship experience Puerto Vallarta - LA is 2 days. LA - Vancouver is 3 days. If she keeps to the speed she is going I'm predicting the arrival here could be as early as Fri/Sat

Now that she is nearly back home, I am wondering if any BC Ferry insiders can explain the sleeping quarters that were put in place for the voyage? How many crew were aboard for the voyage? Is it true that temporary shower facilities were placed on the car deck in the portables common on industrial sites? Any pictures surfaced of the arrangements? Just curious!
