The Queen of Alberni is sailing on the Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay route today. I haven't done all the work to figure out how long this will go on for, but I see the Queen of Alberni is scheduled to be back on the Duke Point run on June 28, so this isn't a change for the full summer.

I should hope not. Because of Horseshoe Bay's limitations, they've already cut back on route two's sailings in summer, and the ' Alberni, with her smaller vehicle and passenger capacities, would be another drop in service.

Alberni is just on as the #2 boat out of Departure Bay, so doing a sailing to HSB, then a round trip to Langdale and back to Nanaimo. (The return trip from Langdale to HSB does not show on the Route 3 schedule; is it operated without passengers?)
June 25 is when the Coquitlam would appear to go into full-time service; and the Alberni appears to enter Route 30 service as the extra boat on June 20.
Always neat watching the start of summer vessel movement; I think it has been quite a bit more complex in recent years.

That's correct ~ I believe the NAN2 ship does that 1730ish to Langdale, then deadheads back to Horseshoe for the ~1900ish sailing back to Nanaimo.

The Queen of Alberni is on the move in Departure Bay. I see it on the schedule for the Duke Point run today (as Dane mentioned above) so I guess we're saying goodbye to the Alberni after its brief sojourn here.

She will be running as the extra boat on Route 30 from now until Labour day. Because of the lack of extra berths at Duke Pt, the ship must deadhead between Duke Pt and Departure Bay at the beginning and end of the day. After Labour day she will revert back to route 2/3 for extra shouldee service

Queen of Alberni outbound from Departure Bay for Horseshoe Bay on the mainland. This was the day after Labour Day & the Alberni was back doing the 'L' route (supplemental sailings on routes 2&3).

My understanding (as a WA state observer) is that she's mainly at Tsawwassen-Duke Point, although not exclusively.

Currently the Alberni is filling in for the Coquitlam, which is getting its refit right now. I think they also do it in the summer too.
