The Queen of Alberni's 8:15pm sailing on August 6, 2011 had an empty upper car-deck. - so I did a deck-level photo from each end. From the bow, notice the black-out curtains. From the stern: - notice the view through the tunnel of the sunset remnant sky at the other end...

Some awful sounds emitted from the Alberni's No. 2 end whistle. Please adjust your volume level before playing this video. Whistle sounds on departure at :03. Was there a fourth note emitted there....?

Queen of Alberni, seen a few minutes before sunrise today, as she arrives in Nanaimo. With her buddy Quinsam Alberni hiding in the Gabriola shadow of that lovely pre-sunrise sky

Just acquired a very nice closeup of the Alberni circa 1976-1978. You can even see the tie on the bridge officer (in hand). My wife found it at a church sale for $5.00! Looks professionally taken or a promotional shot, measures 5.5 X 9.5 inches. On the back of the frame, it is identified as E.J. Bentley, A/ Supt. of Terminals, B.C.F.C., Deas Dock 1982. I figure the picture is between 1976 and 1978, as the masts are painted white, as they were when the C class were first built in '76. Since the Alberni had black masts when she grounded in '79, has to be before then. I quite like this view and will re-frame it to go with the model I have.

Queen of Alberni was a much nicer looking ship before it was lifted. It's much more in proportion with only one vehicle deck.

I like the Alberni just like I like the Chilliwack. They both are unique in their own way!

Route 30's Queen of Alberni heading for Departure Bay on December 23, 2011. - photos taken from Sugarloaf mountain. Coming toward Jesse Island. Entering Departure Bay Coming into berth-3 at Departure Bay. - Queen of Oak Bay is in berth-2 -------------------------- The Oak Bay had arrived 10 minutes before the Alberni, and it also left 10 minutes before the Alberni. - Oakie has left, Alberni is getting ready to leave on her 12:45pm sailing. - a bit of traffic pressure in Nanaimo and in that terminal with 2 sailings arriving & departing at roughly the same time. - just showing that I'm on Sugarloaf mountain.
