Could it possibly be that the plan is to bring her to Cambodia still, and Ensenada is a stop for fuel and stores? Either way though I guess, fate is upon her I'm assuming.
She hasn't run probably since the day she sailed to Deas from Langdale in 2008. That anniversary just passed a few days ago. Didn't look like they were keeping her warm inside, so it's probably not pretty on board anyways.

Perhaps, and this is just gossiping, she may enter a shipyard in Ensenada for conversion to Cambodia use. Hopefully, we'll get some real true news soon.

As to the suggestion an Ensenada stop may be preparing her for a trip to Asia- I can't see that. Check a globe; a Mexican diversion would be a huge detour on a trans-Pacific journey from Port Alberni.

Unfortunately I can't get away from my work-desk tomorrow, otherwise I'd be at China Creek in the Alberni Inlet, waiting for a photo opportunity.
For the WSF Steel-Electrics, we got some historical photos from Emory on Whidby of the final voyage of that group.
- no such luck for the final voyage of the 'Esquimalt, unless someone else has some free-time tomorrow....

I am currently in Port Alberni. The Princess Jacqueline went out of sight of the pier about fifteen minutes ago. I have taken a lot of photos and will sort through them and upload some when I get back to Nanaimo later this morning.

And, thanks to the webcam there at Port Alberni (with many thanks to BigWaveDave.ca for setting this up), I have captured the entire departure and am presenting this as a YouTube video production.
You can expand this to the full screen if you wish.
ENJOY!

I will attempt to contact the tug boat company to kindly ask that if any one on-board has taken (or will take) pictures of the tow, to email them to me......and then I'll post them, of course. - they will likely have a long trip (I don't know how many days) and it's likley that someone on board would take some photos.

Regarding the Queen of Esquimalt, I've heard the story of her first docking experience at Swartz Bay, after being stretch-modified in Esquimalt. - this would have been the first ever stretched-V to berth at a terminal, and apparently it took the master quite a long time to back-into the berth with this new longer version of the ship. ....one of our forum members was on the ship for that repositioning trip, and hopefully he'll see this and fill-in the rest of the story about Captain Crunch's slow landing.

There's going to be "Shades of Gray" (that's a favorite Monkees song) in my hair soon. The QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT was built after I was born. One question: Would that FSG "wave breaker" at the bow be returned to BC? I think they still have two others (if they've kept them). She's now out on the open sea of the Pacific.

Thanks to Scott and Mr Horn for posting possibly the last photos of the Queen of Esquimalt in motion.
For my part, I'm going back to refering to her as the Queen of Esquimalt, for her last days. Whoever painted 'Princess Jacqueline' on her side, never paid the bills, never properly took possession, and perhaps never actually had a legitimate plan to put her into use as a cargo vessel, or whatever.
A can of paint doesn't suffice for a ship's identity. This was our Queen of Esquimalt, a dependable veteran since 1963, and I think that's the name we should remember her by.

:'(seems to me that the name Pr. Jacq. is only a bad joke, as is the sorry remains of San Mateao, Sidney, and all the other sad castoffs! May all the dogwood fleet be remembered by their proper names, and be afforded some dignity! :'(mrdot.

I've merged the Princess Jacqueline thread into this existing QofE thread, and renamed it for photos & discussion.
Thanks to those who suggested that the focus be on her long-lived name, not the failed-attempt name.
