I think that is probably an error on the site Kieran... too bad though because it would be an awesome surprise to see her run one last time. Other members have said that she is no longer painted in BCF colours so it is pretty doubtful.

I can see what would happen on the PA at Swartz now...
"Attention all passengers waiting for the 9:00 AM sailing to Tsawwassen. Even though we have not stated there were no waits or high chances of overload. Due to rising a ferry back from the dead, only 138 cars will be able to make the crossing. The other 200 or so vehicles will have to wait for the 10:00 AM sailing which is not scheduled for today so passengers will have to wait for the 11:00 AM sailing. Though due to cutbacks on sailings the 11:00 AM sailing may not sail either. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and ask you do not start any type of riot. Oh and for any ferry enthusiasts in the area we suggest you get aboard as this is your ABSOLUTE last chance to sail on a piece of BC Ferries history."
However when reality kicked in...
"Attention passengers, mistakes have been made. Due to a typing error the Queen of Tsawwassen is not the vessel for the 9:00 AM sailing to Tsawwassen, the Spirit of British Columbia instead will do the sailing as originally planned. We are sincerely sorry for our mistake and we are appreciative that you did not burn down the entire terminal building. And for all ferry enthusiasts please to not continue burning the terminal."

I wish that was reality She was a fine ship at least she will stay on the coast in whatever form she takes.

For those interested, the private company that owns the Inlet Explorer, formerly MV Queen of Tsawwassen, is open to individuals or groups who want to view the vessel. Also, much of the furniture is being sold as well as old name plates, etc. She will be moored at Deas for a little while longer and then likely moved out to make room for BCF vessels. I am the company's representative in charge of selling off everything that is no longer required. The ship's compass and wheels are not for sale.

That sounds great!
Perhaps an auction is in order?

As for the tour, I am going to wait until word has spread around and then schedule a time that is convenient for everyone to visit Deas. I'm thinking early January. As for sales, email me and we can go from there.

A couple of questions for you, "inletexplorer".
Can you confirm that the company that has purchased the Queen of Tsawwassen is Helifor Canada?
Is the purchasing company planning on running her under her own power, or are they planning on towing her when she needs to be moved? I have heard rumours of both situations.
Thanks in advance, and welcome to the forum.

I don't know if this picture has been posted or not...it appears to be aboard the Queen of Tsawwassen on the Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay route with a stretched Sidney class vessel passing in the distance: www.flickr.com/photos/aaroncaldwell/1254240208/sizes/l/ . The indication of the railing tells me it's taken from the crew area on the bow...or possibly on top of the bridge.

It's most likely a B.

Judging by the funnel, I would say that is a B class. I think Mill Bay is correct in saying that it is taken from the bow of the Tsawwassen, due to the angle and curvature of the railings.

Well seeing as though it says "Queen of Tsawwassen Victoria" on the life ring, I'm thinking it is from the Queen of Tsawwassen. Just a guess though.

I meant taken from the bow, rather than the monkey island, as somebody else suggested.....

I would love to get a tour of the former Q of Tsawassen. I just emailed this address for the inlet explorer contact requesting further info. Looking to hear back soon.

Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum. I am a ship enthusiast, and for many, many years have loved the BC Ferry fleet. I am also an artist and I am creating a 3D Computerized Model of the Queen of Tsawwassen. If you are interested you can view what I have done so far: Main Page: www.viribusunitis.ca/tsawwassen.html3D Model Snapshots: www.viribusunitis.ca/Jalbum/Queen%20of%20Tsawwassen/3D%20Model%20Renders/index.htmlI am using some plans provided by Kevin Stapleton, but need plans on the hull form. If anyone can assist with that it would be much appreciated. The project is currently on hold as I am creating another 3D battleship, but hope to get this model finished soon. Please check out my other 3D ship models at my website www.ViribusUnitis.caCheers, Andrew

Welcome Andrew. I hope our members here can be a resource to you re any questions you might have about the various fine-detail issues that will inevitably come-up as your work through your model.
ps: what are your favourite classes of BC Ferry ships? And what era / livery do you prefer? just curious...

Thanks Flugel! Favourite ship class...well I must say I am partial to the Golden oldies...anything before the Queen of Oak Bay class (but I love all ships). That is partly why I decided to build the Queen of Tsawwassen...because she is old...rusting...etc. In 3D you can still visit her and walk through her corridors I'd be interesting in viewing what's left of the Queen of Sidney if there is another tour. I'd love to take some photographs of her for reference since she and Tsawwassen are from the same class. Cheers, Andrew

I second the WOW! Your finished 3D renderings are incredible! Any chance you can do Queen of the North? That ship would be worthy of a high quality 3D model. And since you have done Queen of Tsawwassen, it would be fun to see one of the Coho, and even before that, Chinook, as she was in original form when Black Ball ran her to Victoria, before Blackball Canada cut off her clipper bow.

Thanks Orcasnative! I have been thinking of doing the Queen of the North as the next BC Ferry 3D model. Fortunately I was able to grab some plans from the Inquiry documents that were posted on the BC Ferry Website. I might have enough to do the model, but really to do her justice I need the hull form plans and additional detailed plans. That project won't start for a while...there are so many ships that I want to build...but work...and life gets in the way...heheh I saw the QoN sinking animation done by Transport Canada and that 3D model was a simple, low polygon model...but nicely done I'd love to do a render of the last moments of the ship before she went under (I am a shipwreck enthusiast as well). If anyone has plans for any of the BC Ferries...and would like to share them...please send them along. My email address visible. Cheers, Andrew

Incredible job, "awwilkie"! I'm amazed at the detail of the model. I'm also glad that you didn't build it with those awful fire windows. Keep it going! The Tsawwassen is one of my favorite, if not my favorite BC Ferry ever.

Call me a rookie maybe but I'm not sure if there's a better way to get an answer on this. "Inlet Explorer" has replied to an email I sent to him. He says that he has been banned on here - and he doesn't know why. I haven't had a chance to get a reply back from him to my question as to "how does he (inlet explorer) know he was banned here?". Any fact to this? He wanted me to pass along that he is willing to arrange a tour as per his email, and had some comments to me about stuff for sale on the ship, but I'm waiting for specifics. If you want to reach him, Email him at his address in his profile (inletexplorer@gmail.com). I got a reply from an Interfor address, but I am not going to release that as I believe that is for the individual to release himself, not for me to broadcast it. He replied to my email to the above addy so that should be the way to contact him. Any info on his banning (unless he maybe is having some technical error that he believes is a banning?) might be good to pass along through a posting (suggestion on my part). Thanks!
