For October, I am looking for photographs taken anytime between dusk and dawn. Including Dusk & Dawn themselves? - ie right up until sunrise, and starting right after sunset? Just being sure, because Dawn & Dusk have some nice lighting.

Including Dusk & Dawn themselves? - ie right up until sunrise, and starting right after sunset? Correct. So basically, any time when the sun is completely below the horizon line or any other land-line, like mountains. If it's a cloudy day and the sun is not visible, just go with what seems right for dusk and dawn?

Your super-camera will takes wonderful photos at a point-in-time that is equidistant between dusk and dawn. - ie. Here's hoping that some of your recent 'Sidney photos can work as banners.

If it's a cloudy day and the sun is not visible, just go with what seems right for dusk and dawn? Dusk occurs after sunset. Dawn occurs before sunrise. As long as the sun itself is not visible (due to the horizon, mountains, etc.), and the timing is appropriate to dusk and/or dawn, I will accept it. As October is "Dusk to Dawn", night photography is also acceptable for this ballot.

I've got my short-list down to 26 banners. ....I've got some work to do making decisions. Scott: this category is lots of fun.

- ie. Here's hoping that some of your recent 'Sidney photos can work as banners. Is that a request? Sure, I'll pop one of them into the ballot. Is there one that people prefer? I might run out to one or two other ferry-spotting areas at night sometime this month too, so as to expand my nighttime shot library. I just really started getting into surrealism dark-night shots this last month, so I don't have much yet.. >>Where are some good nighttime ferry spotting locations? Answer in the ferry spotting thread please

I've cropped for height. I don't have the original photos or negatives to rescan them.

I've cropped for height. I don't have the original photos or negatives to rescan them. Then your choice would be for you to increase the width by magnifying your image (I use Microsoft's Picture Manager for this). And then there is a bit more work. Similar to how you see the other photos in this here nomination thread, you need to submit BOTH is displayed 1,024max wide photo, and provide a LINK to a 1,200max wide photo. Take a look at the other nominations and how they are presented, and use that as your guide. But the range of acceptable sizes is firm.

Thumbnails link to full sized versions. The sun was both blocked by mountains and 0d50m03s below the geometric horizon when the above shot was taken at 1634 on 10 January 2012.

I'll say it before Mr. DOT beats me to it: "Finally a photo that makes the big fat Greek ferry look good ! " (you know, because you can't see too much of it, in the dark) ;D
