For January 2013, I'd like the forum flagship banners to feature the lifeboats and rescue boats of our ferries (Pacific Northwest). The object of the photo has to be a lifeboat or rescue boat or life raft of a ferryboat. It can be on the ferry, or in the water, or if possible in action.
If there is no ferry in the photo, it would be nice if you could have a little caption explaining the "what and where" of the image.
This month's subject is in appreciation of the value of the ferries as first responders to many of the coast's marine emergencies. The fact that the ferries and their crews are on the water for much of the day, up and down the coast, makes it a much safer place for everyone else on the water.

Awesome. Cheese... Please note that the lifeboats in the banner have to be connected in some way to ferries, not warships. Nice photo though.

The first one is ineligible because the attached link photo is too small. - I think you just made a simple mistake on that, because all your other full size links have been good. --------------- For the 2nd photo, I think it is ineligible, because the rescue boat is not the main subject of the photo. Too much ferry, not enough rescue boat.

The first one is ineligible because the attached link photo is too small. - I think you just made a simple mistake on that, because all your other full size links have been good. Yep it was an easy fix. It is now the correct size for the link. I can maybe change it if John says it not eligible.

Yeah, first photo is good. Next one needs to have more rescue boat and less ferry. I can't tell from the photo that the rescue boat is the subject of the photo. Maybe you can zoom in and crop it a bit.

I will jump in and say "No" and also explain why: - Cheese's 2 photos are basically the same thing, with only the zooming and angle a bit different. But it's same ship, same rescue boat, same location. So why have 2 photos of the same thing ? Also, the 2nd photo does not have the rescue boat as the main subject, and it isn't even close. - look at every other photo in this thread to see how close-up the rescue item needs to be. The only other zoomed-out photos are from WCK and Scott, but it's ok because both of those are actually showing a rescue or life boat deployed in the water; a rare thing. So to say again, if you have 2 photos of the same thing, please only post one photo. John H. would tell you the same thing.

Same thing Cheese. You might find if you crop it enough to be eligable, it will be your first entry.

Here are my Entries. I had to question my first banner choice since it's not exactly what you'd want to see during an emergency. Truth be told though, it is common for these types of Liferaft to inflate upside down. Full Size - A Liferaft from the North Island Princess about to be put in position and flipped over during an Organized Liferaft Drill on May 29th, 2012. Full Size - Northern Adventure's #1 Enclosed Lifeboat. March 29, 2012.
