It could very well be for the Squamish-Whistler service.

One of the clues I use (at last for the newest versions) to tell the various buses apart is the side windows. Orion buses have square windows and New Flyers have slightly rounded corners. Nova buses have the very short wheelbase with the long overhang in the front and rear of the bus.
Our New Flyers are a bit easier to notice inside because they have a single row of seats down the sides to leave more standing room. All the new buses have the same interior grey and dark red interiors. The TTC doesn't have any of the New Flyer with the latest fronts and small round headlights, however Mississauga has an extensive number of both the 45 and 60 footer bendy ones.
After riding on the Orion/Daimler hybrids, other buses sure seem to be a lot noisier. I don't know if it is just coincidence as well but the Bio Diesels seem to be noisier than standard diesels.

Since we have various members from around various BC communities I'm asking for some assistance.
During the Summer of 2007 BC Transit purchased a bunch of Ex. Vancouver "Classics". These buses are sorta boxy but round at the top, they also have a very odd paint scheme, and small roll signage at the front. I believe there is a photo earlier in this thread with a photo.
Now here's what I'm asking, if anyone happens to see one of these "Classics" please post you're sighting here. These buses are EXTREMELY rare and any help in tracking them down would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Folks,
Chris Cassidy

Victoria Transit was running some old buses from Translink during the late summer/fall of 2007. They had an order of Novas (I think?) that had been delayed, so they needed extras to fill in the gaps.
Where those buses are now, I don't know.

This past Monday I rode on #8914 in Nanaimo and I think 8907 is still here. Mind you we have had 2 New Novas recently added to the fleet, 9286 and 9287. Which accounts for not seen the Classics and Orions on the road much in the last month. I will keep you updated.

It's generally typical for transit systems to run their older buses only during rush hour. In Vancouver, you will see a lot more high floors running during rush hour, whereas on a weekend, high floors are generally not used.
So right now if you are trying to find MCI Classics and Orion V's, you're best bet is to look at them during the peak hours.

I'm not normally one who takes photos of buses, but here's one for you Bus Geeks out there. Here's our brand new Nova on the Sea to Sky highway, with the Squamish Adventure Center and Mt. Garibaldi in the background. The sign on the front always says, "Special", and am assuming that it's running on the Squamish to Whistler commuter run. Especially since it's on the highway and not on the back roads like most of the other buses.

Ah yes. I saw that bus last time I was in Squamish, and wondered what the heck that was. Thanks for letting us know.

We have some smaller buses like that in our community manufactured by Eldorado. I had mostly seen them as rental car shuttles at US Airports . I suppose they must be cheaper to purchase and less expensive to run. They are put on small neighbourhood runs and I suppose better suited to residential streets than 40 footers. Like most things made in China I expect that one pictured is likely cheaper yet. Maybe Wallmart is going to carry them for special orders, since they keep the chinese economy rolling. Just sayin....

I spotted Nanaimo Regional Transit #9225 at the Tsawwassen Ferry terminal Waiting to Board the Coastal Inspiration at 7:40am on April 30, 2010. AnyIdea why BC Transit would send a bus over to the mainland for? It was empty with no Passengers. This particular bus has been in Nanaimo since new.

Could major engine/tranny work at the dealer be a reason? No, this is likely a long-term system change. BC Transit has been shuffling their 2nd Gen Novas around the province. Some other potential candidates are Kamloops or Prince George, but Kelowna seems to be where the majority of coaches are going. Nanaimo is becoming more of a "dumping ground" for BC Transit's older New Flyer low-floor coaches, with buses coming up from Victoria or over from Kelowna, so #9225 was likely replaced by one of those buses.

Well, for any of you transit fanatics interested in making a road trip to grab bus shots in a new setting, Chilliwack has now started running a fleet of Nova busses. (Abbotsford has some, too, for that matter.)

Ah, so that's where Powell River sent 9848. I think 9847 is still around since we got our Nova Buses. Don't think she's used much though.

re Nanaimo Transit:
Ferry Dude 2010, Did you notice that Nanaimo has a lot of "Newer" aditions from Victoria we got since January. Since Victoria has recieved alot of the New T-Drive Nova's They have unloaded a few of thier Older units to other communities. We have recieved #8111, 8034, 8041, 8043, 8047, 8070,and 8077 in the past year. I think one or two came from Prince George. This kind of dissapointed me as I would have liked to see a few of the New T_Drives Here. Apparantly when I asked a Driver about it he said the new buses are alot more expensive to lease than the older ones. All of our Orions have been scrapped and the Classics have dissappeard too. As of Now Nanaimo Transit is a Low Floor Fleet.

The rest are from Victoria, because I've seen them down there on my last visit to Victoria. I'm not sure if 8088 (see pic above) is a new addition as well, maybe you could clear that up for me. As for the new Novabus T-Drives, They are only in a few communities (besides Translink). I believe Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna, and maybe Courtenay has them. As much as I would like to see them in Nanaimo, I could understand why, as you said, more expensive to lease. Where are the Classics? Are they scrapped as well, or moved to another community?
