I’ve always thought of Islands as neat places to visit....especially if you have to take a ferry to get there and all the better if it’s two ferries each way! And for me......close to home is the Magdalen Islands....or Iles de la Madeleine. An archipelago of six main islands linked by dunes and sand bars....stretching 80 km in the middle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The islands are a part of Quebec but the inhabitants are mostly of Acadian ancestry......and the culture, food and scenery make for a great trip! Thanks for sharing pics of your trip, the Iles de Madeleine, and especially the ones of the Madeleine ferry. When I was back there in July, I made sure to drive out to Souris to see the ferry come and go, but did not take that particular crossing, so it's nice to have your pics to see what she looks like on the inside.

Thanks 'ghYHZ' for sharing the pics on your trip to a part of the country I've yet to visit. I've been hoping that you'd show us some pics of the interior of the 'Madeleine'. A very nice looking ship inside and out. Nice to see shots of other vessels that work on the other side of the country as well.

I am reading on Wikipedia that C.T.M.A is looking to replace the C.T.M.A. Vacancier. Is that true? I know that federal government is building a replacement for M.V Madeleine.

It seems the feds aren't any more timely in building ferries than with navy vessels or air force planes. Five years for a permanent replacement for the Madeleine? Good grief.

A pair of line drawings unveiled today during a Zoom call involving Davie Shipyards, showing the two new replacement ferries.

Here's CTMA's new 'Madeleine II'..... that will soon enter service between Prince Edward Island and the Iles de la Madeleine in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This is a former Mediterranean Ferry Nice looking ferry. Should be a good replacement for the Madeleine.
