Hey team,
My name is Michael and I will be your flagship host for the next couple months while we take submissions for April and May.
My theme will be "Fun with Flags" - photos featuring that particular ferry company's flag flying somewhere on a ship.
Note: Terminal and dockside photos will not be accepted.
Normal entry standards apply. Please look those up (link to be added when I am not in my phone).
Thanks!

How prominent are you wanting them flags to be?
I forsee nominations of a ferry far away, with a small flag flying, barely discernable.

Does this have to be the 'company' flag, or can it be USA, Canada, or BC/ state flag? Can it be the flag/ motto on a ferry's funnel, for instance?

I know you would love for me to quantify it FH, and believe me, so would I... but unfortunately I have to leave it to the discretion of the poster. It should be relatively front-and-center in the photo, not just noticeable. Does this have to be the 'company' flag, or can it be USA, Canada, or BC/ state flag? Can it be the flag/ motto on a ferry's funnel, for instance? It should be the company's flag. The funnel does not qualify.

Gonna be a tough one for us southerners... WSF hasn't flown a houseflag in decades. I can't recall ever seeing a picture of one on a Super, suggesting they were gone by the late 1960's.

BC Ferries and Blackball (Coho) are the only local ferry operators I know of that fly company flags; don't know about AMHS. I was looking through my photos of east coast ferries from last year, and both NFL and New Brunswick Ferries fly Canadian and Provincial flags, but no company flag that I could see. I love the idea of flags on a ferry for a theme, but I think we're going to have a pretty limited number of submissions given the company flag criteria.

Its gonna be a tough two months for some of us 'northerners' looking at so many 'mating slug' flags... I feel your pain.

My reasoning for company flags is to ensure that we remain on a ferry-related theme, instead of ending up with a bunch of provincial/state or national flags on our banner. I'm open to suggestions, though...

I don't see why. The Alaska Flag IS the house flag of the Alaska Department of Transportation and the Alaska Marine Highway.

We're assuming that this isn't a banner nomination, but just a nice photo that matches the theme.

We're assuming that this isn't a banner nomination, but just a nice photo that matches the theme. Would you believe that I cropped a much larger image as opposed to not correctly interpreting the banner sizing? My bad - I'll rumble through the image box for something that is sized correctly One word of caution: - beware the Full Size direct link. Easiest thing to do is see how the other nominations links look, when you open them (ie. to a clean page with just the full size 1200x340 pic)

Hey team, this thread is now locked, and voting will commence shortly. Apologies for the delay, I need to keep better track of things apparently...
