If the tracking map is accurate, it looks like Island 4 has backtracked some ninety miles to once again be off San Francisco. Looks like heavy weather off northern California for the next few days.

Island 4 has now crossed into Oregon waters, still battling high winds. Current wind speed is projected at 39 Knots

As of 215am Island 4 was abeam with the mouth of the Columbia River & Astoria Oregon. Now sailing in Washington State waters & is on the home stretch for Victoria. Winds have lightened a bit verses what it was dealing with in Northern California waters.

Taking the distance travelled and the duration, that gives us an average speed of 6.6 knots. Pretty pokey, but about what we'd expect from following the journey. I wonder when the final vessel will leave Romania. We're at August 12th now, and if she doesn't start for another two weeks, that would put her arrival time at Victoria near the end of October. Could be getting pretty stormy off the Pacific coast by then; even this fourth vessel did a considerable amount of zig zagging and backtracking off California and Oregon.

Island 3's temporary name has been painted out to white. No sign of the new name.

A couple of webcam views of Number 4 are shown this early morning as the vessel nears Victoria BC.Coming up the Strait of Juan De Fuca from the Pacific Ocean. Nearing Victoria. Canadian Customs agents await you, ISLAND 4! Not the best resolution this morning, but this visually documents the arrival as seen from the Race Rocks cam we thank again for providing these images. An interesting question: Do the delivery crews require quarantine due to the CV?

I'm suspecting everyone onboard would be double vaccinated? I would probably guess that all crew members onboard would get a Covid Test just after the crew has been cleared to disembark the ship by CBSA. Under the new Quarantine Rules the BCF Crews onboard do not have to Self Quarantine if they test negative. As for the Daman Crew this would be a tough call as they have entered Canada on Business, but I don't think they need to Self Quarantine as they would be like Airline Crews who don't need to Self Quarantine?

Is Island #5 doing an about face and headed back or is that a mapping glitch?
Anyone?

From what I just observed now on Marine Traffic Island 5 is heading back to Santa Cruz & it's ETA is Aug 21 1600 Local Time. Some kind of Mechanical Issue requiring them to head back rather then head for Panama. We'll see if BC Ferries puts out a News Release Wednesday on what is going on?

According to the tracker posted by 'tak22', Island 5 is again on track westward, almost back to where she turned around. Given the bizarre path of Island 4 up the California and Oregon coast due to weather, we probably shouldn't make assumptions about mechanical difficulties.
