On my recent trip to the European continent, I got the pleasant opportunity to check out a couple of Amsterdam's IJ Ferries (it is pronounced like a 'Y'). The 60-series vessels (60 through 63) are hybrid-electric operating and carry between 240 and 310 passengers, as well as bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles. The ferries were designed and built in the country (Holland Shipyards is close to Rotterdam), so you BC people could definitely learn something, European boats can be built well but buying them isn't always perfect . Even more meaningful that each vessel operating was flying the pride flag! Go Amsterdam!

I rode this system in 2015 and was amazed how well this system ran. Are they still free to ride?
