Per the 2022 Flagship Theme idea thread, this is what we are doing for 2022's theme:
New Faces in the Fleet
Basically, any vessel added to any ferry fleet in the world from 2010 to present day is eligible. There are a few rules/clarifications around this:
- Car ferries only (no passenger-only)
- Older vessels purchased, substantially overhauled, and added to a fleet after 2010 count, so that means Northern Sea Wolf is eligible even though the original construction date was 2000
In our corner of the world, there are quite a few "newer" ferries to choose from:
- For BCF, there are the new Island Class boats, the Salish Class trio, soon to be 4 with Salish Heron, Northern Sea Wolf, and Baynes Sound Connector
- Elsewhere in BC, there are the new Seaspan vessels, and I think several new inland ferries, like MV Columbia, for example
- For WSF, there's the Kwa-Di Tabil and Olympic Class vessels
- Other Washington ferries include Sanpoil and Oscar B
- Alaska has the new Alaska Class ferries, Tazlina and Hubbard
In other parts of the continent and world, I think there are a lot of choices. It just depends on if someone here on the forum has any photos. In the Maritimes, Marine Atlantic's MV Blue Puttees and MV Highlanders would be eligible. Bay Ferries Fundy Rose certainly qualifies, as do Newfoundland's newest vessels, MV Veteran and MV Legionnaire. Like I said, there are a lot of choices.
nomination guidelines
- You can submit up to 5 photos
- Photo does not have to be your own, but if it isn't, please give credit to the photographer in a corner of your cropped photo
- You are allowed to submit photos previously entered in past contests
As before, there will be 12-13 submissions picked for the rotation, depending on how the voting goes.
photo guidelines (flagship nomination rules still apply)
- Banner size = 1200x340 pixels
- post 1024x290 nomination to thread with link to full size image
- please make sure all of your links work
Entries will be accepted up through 6:00pm PST on Dec 28. A voting poll will be set up and then you will be able to vote on the entries
