Hello!
I’m a screenwriter and filmmaker living on Vancouver Island.
Right now, I’m working on the script to a mystery/suspense thriller titled KAYAK. It’s about a wannabe travel vlogger retracing the route of her missing twin brother by circumnavigating Vancouver Island in a kayak, only to be haunted by the lurking suspicion that something is in the water following her.
I’ve been thinking about the possible score for the film.
I really like the idea of a forlorn BC Ferries horn receding into the distance, fading into the distance, evoking the isolation the sister experiences, and the feeling of abandonment she has. Especially since BC Ferries are one of the only ways to connect Vancouver Island to the mainland.
Do you know of any audio recording of a BC Ferries ferry sounding its horn as it recedes into the distance?
I would love to use such a haunting sound and incorporate it into the score of my film. Maybe a recurring part part of the theme to the isolation of the setting and the protagonist’s emotional/psychological state.
All the best,
- Jeff C.
