We're trying something different regarding the forum flagship banner contest going forward. I've created this thread as a place to submit nominations for the flagship header July thru December 2024. It remains to be seen whether there will be voting for new entries in June or whether the moderators will just pick some to grace the banner. We may keep one or two of the top winning entries currently in rotation and add new ones in, or we may simply replace them all. Again, these decisions have not been made yet. For now, you can use this thread to submit nominations you would like to see grace the header starting in June. Here are the rules: - any ferry in the world is eligible - photo must be taken this year - 2024 - photo must be your own - you can submit up to 4 photos photo guidelines (flagship nomination rules still apply) - Banner size = 1200x340 pixels - post 1024x290 nomination to thread with link to full size image - please make sure all of your links work for those who haven't submitted entries before, here is a "how-to" on creating a banner image in Photoshop and uploading it to a Flickr account. This is only one way to do it. The process is likely similar with other programs, but the steps may be different. ferriesbc.proboards.com/thread/3510/forum-flagship-rules-information

Deadline is coming up for the 2nd half 2024 flagship nominations. Depending on how many entries we get, my thinking is to retain the 1st and 2nd place entries from the start of the year, and add new entries to replace the others. In that scenario, the pics that would remain are as follows:
#28. Coho & Clipper V (first place) #3. Queen of Alberni from Above (2nd place tie) #20. Passing Island Class Vessels (2nd place tie) #24. Yakima (2nd place tie)
The deadline for the new submissions is Friday, June 28th at 6:00pm. As stated above, you can submit 4 nominations. Pics must be from this year.

2024 has been a light ferry year for me so far... Hopefully that changes soon. For now though, just one submission: The Queen of Alberni at Tsawwassen's Berth 2 at 5:00 on an April morning. FULL SIZE HERE

Entry #2 - I am going to keep this one up for now, but I defer this as a submission until the end of the year for submission. Jim has a point. It would be good to have more WSF content. ![](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53801280704_2ec4df84e0_b.jpg) Queen of Oak Bay rounding Bowen Island at sunset. Click here for larger image.

OK everyone, for the 2nd half 2024 flagship, we're not going to do a traditional voting because, quite simply, I do not have time to set up the voting poll tonight, and I'm gone this weekend through Monday, July1st. So, with that in mind, everyone who has submitted a nomination will get at least one of their nominations selected. For those who submitted 3 or 4, you get to pick your two favorites. Here's what it will look like:
> the 4 top pick entries from the beginning of this year will carry over. I called those out in a previous post. > Brandon: 4 nominations - I will pick my top two and delete the others from my post > Ollie: 4 nominations - pick your two favorites and delete the others from your post > Cascadian Transport: 1 nomination - you're in > Paulvanb: 3 nominations - pick your two favorites and delete the other one from your post > WettCoast: 4 nominations - pick your two favorites and delete the others from your post > yak: 1 nomination - you're in
That should give us 14 total photos for the banner rotation. If any other submissions get entered today by others, I will factor that in. As noted above, Ollie, Paulvanb, Wettcoast, and me, we will need to edit our posts to keep our two favorites and delete the others. Thanks to everyone who has submitted.

For the one that I have to delete, can it be entered again for the end of the year? I am kind of torn here for a decision.

In wanting to keep as much vessel variety as possible in the headers that we will see over the next six months, I have chosen to go with my second group of two pics (Kahloke & CRen). My other two include a Salish class (already well represented) and the New West (which Ollie has entered a photo of). Always good to have variety.
Perhaps we need more WSF vessels in the mix ...
