Well I just might have to take advantage of the 50% off vehicle promotion with BC Ferries and do a day trip down to Anacortes on a Saturday to ride the Samish. It's about time for another WSF trip!

Faunt/Va/SW - Plan for Reduced Capacity, 10/25 Customers are advised to prepare for longer than usual wait times dueto a temporary vessel downsizing on the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route. This temporary downsizing is needed to maintain a 3-boat sailing schedule while the Issaquah is out of service for necessary repairs. Beginning Sunday, Oct. 25, the F/V/S route will be served by the 87-car Tillikum, the 87-car Evergreen State and the 64-car Salish.
Looks like the Salish will be at Vashon while the Issaquah is out. Is anyone planning to go down and get some pictures?

I might not sure what time, toward afternoon before sundown. Presuming she remains the #1 vessel tomorrow, I might ride her from F-SW at 2:15pm and drive up to Bremerton and come back to Seattle. Maybe, On the F-V-S route the vessel running positions are different from the weekends and weekday service. Based on past history, for Monday it may be likely that the Evergreen State is #1, Salish is #2, and Tillikum is #3 position. Normally the #3 boat on the weekdays is either the Issaquah or Cathlamet. The #2 position is usually the smaller capacity or slower boat to keep the triangle from getting stacked up with all the boats at one terminal. This is an interesting situation as all three boats serving Vashon right now are pretty close to the same speed or lack of So all bets could be off about their running positions.

According to the online schedule, Salish is #1, Evergreen State is #2 and Tillikum is #3.

According to the online schedule, Salish is #1, Evergreen State is #2 and Tillikum is #3. I am on the 4:40am crossing and it is the Tillikum running in #1 and Evergreen State in the #2 slot. Looks like the Salish is in the #3 position at least to start the day. Perhaps they are expecting the Issaquah to be back sooner then later and make a strait out swap between boats? Otherwise it is a 64 car boat replacing a 124 car boat in that #3 position.

The Salish was nearly half an hour late (I think it was due to crew familiarization) and all boats are now 30 - 45 minutes late. Ugh!

I was planning to take her 11:10am sailing from Southworth to Vashon and Fauntleroy and we didn't leave until ~11:45am. She looked very well kept and I really enjoyed the ride, despite how late we were.

A quick note this evening.. came home on Edmonds-Kingston on the 1810 departure from Kingston on the Spokane. When I was looking at the terminal status page, I noted that there was a new alert that the Walla Walla would be replaced by the Tokitae that evening on the next sailing (1900 from Kingston).
Of course, the Tokitae was not in the second slip at Kingston waiting to take over.
After we got about 3/4 of the way across the sound, the Spokane's engines throttled down and we held off Edmonds for easily 15 minutes. When we got going again, we were notified that the Walla Walla had to pump sewage and take on fresh water before going out of service. The maintenance schedule notes she is heading to Eagle Harbor, so I was surprised they couldn't do that there.
Taking a look at the updated maintenance schedule tonight (Dec 30), the Puyallup was supposed to relieve the Walla Walla tonight. Apparently she wasn't ready to go so they sent the Tokitae instead. Already had one sailing waits all afternoon at Kingston, I'm sure tomorrow will be worse given its the end of a holiday weekend.
A closer look at this maintenance schedule update also reveals that the Elwha is scheduled to spend about a month on Seattle-Bremerton when she wraps up repairs in Eagle Harbor. Get your cameras ready...

And, this is why the HIYU is docked at Kingston. Except for one slip, the Eagle Harbor Vessel Maintenance Center is full of ferries. That lone slip could be filled at at any time, perhaps, maybe, whenever, whatever word in the dictionary you wish to use. The "No Vacancy" sign is ready to be used in a moment's notice.

The two slips to the left of the main pier will soon be vacant. The Samish will get some dockside time (at Vigor?) starting next Monday January 11 and the Chelan is her slotted replacement.

I just noticed that the vessel status has the Samish up at Edmonds/Kingston the week of February 8. I'll have to go up to Edmonds and take a ride on her!

She will take place of the double W as the double w is going in to relieve the puyallup at Bainbridge since the Wenatchee is currently at vigor and puyallup can't go at the same time..... That's what I think will happen.....

Get your cameras ready... That won't be happening . I just read the latest schedule... the Elwha goes back up to the San Juans next week after sea trials are completed.

I just looked at the latest maintenance schedule and it shows three Issaquah 130 Class vessels (Issaquah, Cathlamet and Kitsap) on the Vashon route beginning the week of 07/04. My gut feeling tells me this probably will change, but if it does it'll be (as far as I know) only the second time 3 Issaquah 130 Class vessels have been on the same route.

In a few years, after the 4th Olympic is built and in the fleet, (3) Issaquah 130's may become a permanent thing at F-V-S. And, speaking of schedules, it should be noted the Central Sound routes are finally back to their normal vessel assignments - it's only been, what, 2 years? What I mean by that is Puyallup and Spokane are at Edmonds-Kingston, and Tacoma and Wenatchee are at Seattle-Bainbridge. It's been a long time since Puyallup's been at home on her normal route. And, that also means Walla Walla is back at Bremerton, at least for now.

And, speaking of schedules, it should be noted the Central Sound routes are finally back to their normal vessel assignments - it's only been, what, 2 years? Yes, well, don't unpack. *sigh* The Kitsap's returning to Bremerton as soon as the Samish is available, so the Walla Walla can relieve another Jumbo somewhere. (I'm losing track of where.)

A few items of interest from the latest maintenance schedule (03/04): - The Klahowya remains on the Vashon route through next week, then becomes a reserve vessel.
- The Salish has a 3 week stint on the San Juan Inter-Island route beginning next week.
- The Tillikum becomes the regular vessel on the San Juan Inter-Island route beginning the week of 03/28.
- The Hiyu goes out for about one month of sea trials beginning 04/25 and her status is changed from "Pending" to "Standby" after that.

Looks like it's going to be musical boats in the San Juans for the Spring again. *sigh*

The San Juans are back up to full service this morning after the Yakima incident yesterday. Kaleetan has come back to replace Yakima, and Spokane has replaced Kaleetan at Bremerton. Spokane doesn't go to Bremerton very often, like hardly ever, so "Musical Ferries" continues.
