Interesting PDF from a company named Zinga (based in the UK, I believe) that makes zinga: a one-component anti-corrosion zinc coating system that has been used in the past by BCFerries. It is applied to the steel structures of the ramps to prevent rapid corrosion. www.zinga-uk.com/files/CA-BR-MA-BC%20Ferry-EN.pdf

I was googling "freeboard" today, and I found this paper. It's from Washington State, and it has some good learnin' for anyone interested in understanding double-ended ferries better. Full study-paper here: www.ebdg.com/papers/50_years_double_ended_ferry_design.pdfps: yes, there is an error in section 6.3 of the report; the Queen of Victoria was not a double-ended ferry.

Here is a link to a VESSEL REPLACEMENT STRATEGY submitted to Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, March, 2006, by BMT FLEET TECHNOLOGY LIMITED: www.tw.gov.nl.ca/publications/bmt_report.pdfInteresting to compare it to some of BCFerries proposals for intermediate vessel replacements.

I decided to post this here, in an old thread with an appropriate title. But it's about both trains and ferries, so I didn't want to have to start any long division equations to decide where it should go. If you look through it, there is a nice picture of the Princess of Vancouver. www.exporail.org/can_rail/Canadian%20Rail_no210_1969.pdfSomeone else had posted this link on the infamous Railfan.net Forums.
