This is the second time in a week this has happened. Hopefully she is back in service by tomorrow morning. I think she can do one better.

I wish I could have gone down to the BI dock to see it. Unfortunately, I have to wake up at 4AM. We'll see what happens in the morning. I'm supposed to be on the Wenatchee (I imagine that the Wenatchee will be used as the #1 boat if the Tacoma isn't fixed). Be interesting to see if the Issaquah will stay on the Bainbridge route for the night. Issaquah on Seattle/Bainbridge route by Zack Heistand, on Flickr

It was on December 3rd 2013. The COI extension for the Tacoma was only valid for one month. I imagine if the Tacoma doesn't get fixed tonight, they will send the Issaquah to Bremerton (maybe), the Evergreen to Fauntleroy, the Kaleetan to Edmonds (or Issaquah to Edmonds), and the Walla Walla or Spokane to Bainbridge, until the Puyallup or Tacoma comes back online, which ever is first.

I suspect the most likely scenario is Issaquah goes to Kingston and either Spokane or Walla Walla (Probably the latter) goes to Bainbridge.

Something else worth noting is that the Wenatchee's passenger capacity was reduced to 1200 while the Issaquah was on the Bainbridge route. Coast Guard does not want the passenger capacity on any one boat on the run to exceed the capacity of the smallest boat on the run. This is done so that the small boat could rescue passengers from the other boat if something went wrong and they had to abandon ship.

Now obviously you can't go against the coast guard, but I would think that considering how close the Bremerton and North Vashon boats are to the Bainbridge boats, their potential capacity should be considered applicable for evacuation capacity.

That's what I thought too. Coast Guard wins every time though.

And a few departures in the dark at Vashon and Southworth. While I think we can all relate to enthusiasm about our ferry systems, is there any chance of you maybe rounding off the number of videos you post in one day? I've counted 23 since this morning. Consider spreading them out a little bit over several days, as well as consolidating them into a lower number of posts, so that our members can appreciate them more. Also, so that it doesn't clog the recent posts section. Thanks!

I should have posted these months ago so I was in a bit of a hurry. BTW I love your photos.

Given the proximity to the yard, it might be easier to move the boat to the shop than bring the shop to the boat... either way, yes, clearly something's complicated.

I was standing on the dock when the Issaquah went down this morning. It is the same issue as the previous times the Issaquah has been down this week. The employees on the dock said it is an issue with the electrical system that has been happening intermintly throughout the week and the Coast Guard is mandating that the boat go to Eagle Harbor to further investigate. The plan is that the 64-car Salish will be pinch hitting for the Issaquah on Monday with the Evergreen State and Tilikum.

I hope the Issaquah can get fixed soon. Might run down to Vashon tomorrow and see the Salish.

I went over this morning from Southworth on the 10:55am Tillikum this morning and noticed that the Issaquah had moved into the #3 slot overnight and was tied up at Vashon. On my return trip from Fauntleroy on the late 12:20pm Evergreen State the dock crew told me the Issaquah was being a problem child again and that the Salish was expected to replace her late this afternoon. The Issaquah came over from Vashon with one car aboard, unloaded and then took off for Eagle Harbor shortly after we departed. This issue is making for some big loads on the Evergreen State and Tillikum this afternoon.

Update:
And now it is on to Bremerton, With the Hyak swapping places with the Issaquah.
