Originally I was going to suggest having a summer time Ferry theme, but with the recent news of the Queen of Esquimalt scrapping I figured everyone's going to want to honor the ship at least one last time. So submit to me, your best three photos of our beloved Queen of Esquimalt. If you prefer, photos post retirement with her as Princess Jacqueline will also be accepted. Bonus points goes out to people who submit photos of her in prime condition though. Also, I'll accept photos from on board that have obvious hints that it's the Esquimalt. Such as a name board in the background, orange cafeteria, Dogwood mural in the buffet, etc. If there's a lot of entries, I might consider rotating a few photos of the month. But no guarantees. All other regular rules apply. Nominations close at 21:00 PDT, June 29th.

...just kidding. If somebody actually has a clear image of Donella's tattoo that would fit, and if it's okay with her (do we need permission?) somebody should actually submit a picture of it! I would vote for it! ;D

I would accept a clear resolution photo at the correct dimensions of Donella's tattoo. Could be neat to have as a banner.

The Queen of Esquimalt in Active Pass enroute to Swartz Bay in August 1966. (Pre-stretch and pre-lift.) Photo taken by my Father from the deck of the Queen of Vancouver. It's almost halfway through the month, so I'll try to jumpstart this with a couple of submissions: Ferryman asked for photos that clearly show it's the Esquimalt, so I'm not sure if this will pass muster, but I'll see what you guys think.

Here is my entry for the month. I don't have many shots of the Esquimalt, but I managed to find one Gem that holds up nicely. Queen of Esquimalt, Langdale Terminal, Berth 2, July 10, 2006.

You probably know better than me, but isn't that Horseshoe Bay, looking down at the little garden that the employees keep up?

Far too open to be Horseshoe Bay.

My feeling is that a header photo of the Queen of Esquimalt should show her in her prime, dressed in either of the two dogwood liveries she wore between 1964 & 2003. For the most part she looked very good during all of those years. In that spirit I am submitting three DOT photos, plus two of my own. The full size versions can be seen by clicking on each photo. All photos except the last one originate from an analogue source (slide or negative). DOTDOTDOTJSTJSTFrom the JST photobucket photo site ©

After some consultation with Scott on photo usage issues, I enter this submission for the July Forum Flagship: i139.photobucket.com/albums/q309/ferrynutseattle/ferrynutseattle2/FF.jpgThis shows the departure of the QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT (never mind that phony name that was given to her for her other intended use) from Port Alberni via the webcam there and her pass by of Avalon, Catalina Island. Sources for both captures are included. The heading is with white lettering on nearly the original "Dogwood Fleet" blue and with the "Dogwood Fleet" flag and the Canadian flag. The US flag at Avalon represents her Seattle connection with her original design team. I've never dreamed in capturing a member of an original class of BC Ferries passing a landmark California tourist destination in my lifetime.
