This thread hasn't been touched as of lately. Even though this is Saturday, I decided to present this treat for you. Can you guess the name of this ferry? The answer will be revealed about mid week in this first week of August. Oh, by the way, this forum's photographer did nothing to create this paint peeling (this was already like this when the exposure button was pressed). Good luck! Here is the answer: MV WENATCHEE This is the primer color. These big ferries were launched in this color. They received their traditional green and white paint during their completion phase at Todd Shipyard, their builder. Picture taken on June 29, 2009.

Funny.... I thought primer paint was "Battleship" grey.

Funny.... I thought primer paint was "Battleship" grey. Depends, often it is red oxide, too. Or in the case of the Golden Gate Bridge, orange...yes, that colour is not what the original final colour was supposed to be, and remains its iconic self due to the requests of the locals to keep the primer colour instead of grey.

Can't be the QUEEN OF SAANICH. There is no fancy interior window frame decor seen. The winning choice is already declared in any of the above postings. So, this is either the QUEEN OF VANCOUVER or QUEEN OF ESQUIMALT.

I'll play Chris and say it has to be the Van because of the shape of the cardeck windows or something. Actually I would have said something silly like, "There's no ropes wrapped around the foc'sle railings, so that would cut out the Saanich and Esquimalt right off the bat, and then it doesn't look clean enough to be the New West". ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cheers, I can confirm that all 4 of the V class, including the Victoria, have/had those odd "T" bar thingamajigs in the windows. I have pictures of all to prove this. They were not there initially. Judging by my pics they were installed around about the mid 1990's. I am guessing that they figured out that a passenger standing on the vehicle tire rail 'thingy' might just have been able to fall overboard so they added the 'T-bar thingy'. The New West is the only one not to have had these bars. That may be because the windows are perhaps a little higher to begin with? I recall a news story from the 1990's or late 80's of a passenger on Route-1 who fell overboard while vomiting-out-the-window on the car deck. He floated all night and landed on Galiano or Mayne. True story. Maybe that's why they installed the T-bars?

Hmm, ok so I completely guessed on the Vancouver Question. I know its not Friday, but I figure I better do my round before I forget again, and again, and again. I'm going to do something a little different this time, seeing as I am the Master to the Queen of Chilliwack. From the numbered pictures below identify which end of the ship this picture is focusing on (Bow or Stern) I know the Chilliwack is a double ender, but considering all of these pictures were taken on the the discovery coast I will consider her a single ender with a odd bum for the game. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10) 11) 12) Cheers,

Nice montage, interesting concept. I'd give it a try but would be giving away most of my answers to no avail as, like most, I've never been below the vehicle deck in order to answer #11.
