I have seen five photos of the "Salty". They all show her name on the side as Salt Spring Queen. Might BC Ferries have had her officially registered under the name "Saltspring Queen"? Maybe, but it would be good to see some real historical evidence. The name of this ferry, and its namesake island, appear to be just a little bit controversial.

Not the fastest ship in the fleet - I remember taking SSQ on the SB to Fulford run a couple of times - took almost an hour. 45 minutes, anyway.

What's in a name anyways ...
I checked the three early BC Ferries books by Cadieux & Griffiths, Favelle & the Bannermans (Dogwood Fleet, The Queens of British Columbia & The Ships of British Columbia) and they are all unanimous in (mis)spelling this little ferry's name as "Saltspring Queen".

It seems that the Salty once acted as an aircraft carrier, perhaps the only vessel ever to do so in the history of BC Ferries.
I can think of at least three BC Ferries that have carried rail cars ...

I'll say the easy one: Princess of Vancouver

The hull and center casing of what remains of the old Salt Spring Queen, as of November 2019. We know this is the SSQ because the Vesuvius Queen was sold to a company in the Dominican Republic in the late 90’s. Also apparently this hull is still Registered but now renamed if I’m not mistaken. Disclaimer: I had to bump up the saturation a bit to show the structure since the sun was acting as a backlight Attachments:

It’s located in front of Lions Gate Fisheries in Ladner on the Fraser River. It was quite the active platform, assumably for fishing boats having work done while along side. I took this photo from a boat, so I imagine this isn’t possible to see from the road. It’s actually just a couple hundred meters up river from where the Howe Sound Queen was moored, at S.M. Products
