We don't need flickr or photobucket anymore? Increasing our attachment storage is not a replacement for a third-party host. It will always remain best to use a host such as Flickr and link it to the forum. Acceptable photos and/or documents are only to a maximum of 2 MB each. Attachments are generally going to be used by those who are not confident in their ability to link photographs from such a host, or those who may want to share an important photo or document quickly via the mobile version of the WCFF site. Attachments should contain a photograph or document of importance and not "here's a photo of the Cowichan at Departure Bay".

As some of you discovered, our fifteen year old forum finally maxed out its allotted space for attachments...
*drum roll*
I'm happy to announce that this problem is now resolved! I've added an attachment plan to what I already pay to keep the forum advertisement-free for members, so those who do not use a host for their photos may now attach without issue.
If, however, anyone runs into any issues with attachments, please let me know!

A reminder that the AGM is this Friday at 10:00 AM. Is anyone from WCF going to be in attendance?

I'd love to see this occur. Perhaps something planned before Labour Day?

Jeez. I was only off by a month. Can I plead heat prostration, because I braved a trip from Hornby into Courtenay in the busiest time of the year, with horrific lineups? Nope. This was a rare Wednesday where I connected almost straight through, there and back. It was hot, though. Forty lashes with a wet noodle, and good that other forum members have their calendars straight. I remember past years where BC Ferries didn't even take out ads in newspapers, so, as opposed to what I stated, this is definitely a step forward in inviting public input to our ferry system. Did any of our learned members manage to meander down to this annual public conflab? I confess I completely forgot about it, even though I had noted the date on my calendar,...ooops The 2018 AGM has yet to occur... It'll be held on Friday, August 24.

Since July 2003, Ferries of British Columbia, later West Coast Ferries Forum, has brought those passionate for BC Ferries, Washington State Ferries, and Alaska Marine Highway System together.
Past, present, and future, this forum has and will continue to provide a place to discuss and share all things "ferry". While this forum has been the medium that brought us together, it's each and every one of you who made it into a well-respected, welcoming community. While communication continues to evolve at a rapid pace, our forum continues to remain the go-to location for those interested in marine transportation on the west coast of North America - thanks to you.
On behalf of John and I, our moderators, and our social media team - we thank each and every one of you for an incredible fifteen years.
Here’s to many more!

By the way, does BC Ferries own the design for Coastal Class so that any shipyard could build more vessels that look similar to Coastal Class vessels, without a lawsuit from Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft? Why would BC Ferries not build 5 more Coastal class? They seem near perfect for the job, replacing vessels during refits would be much easier, and crew training costs would be lower. Just wondering? Yes, BC Ferries owns the plans to the Coastal Class vessels. However, the now nearly fifteen year old design would still need modifications to comply with current maritime standards, not to mention the numerous alterations for increased capacity, fuel source, etc... An RFP that will draw major players in the industry is the smart way to proceed as a new design may very well prove preferable. Sure, there's a chance the Coastal Class plans could be used and modified, but that will certainly depend on what BC Ferries receives during the RFP process.
