I think the large problem with our shipbuilding industry in the province is the way the gov't went about awarding the ferry contracts in the past (Spirits and Cats). Instead of pumping resources into one or two big yards to get the infastructure in place, the work was fragmented out to many smaller yards. This meant that once the ferries were built, the gov't moderated relationships between all these yards pretty much dissolved, leaving no central "company" to go out and bid on large jobs, having no infastructure to do the job. When work is that spread out at that many places, efficiency usually suffers.

Question re: large decals- Do the three ships look the same, or are there variations in the decaling that will distinguish them apart?

Congrats from me as well. My wife gave birth to a boy on Dec. 13, so I know where you're at! His big sister (2 1/2) is "cited" to take him on his first ferry ride soon.

re: tripping hazards- I really don't mean to sound arrogant, and to be fair, I'm used to walking and working in uneven and cluttered terrain, but.....why don't people pick up their feet and pay attention to where they're walking and their surroundings??

This stage of construction is when things look like they're happening very fast. They're all big pieces. Just wait til the rigging, outfitting, and detailing starts to happen. You'll wonder if they've even done anything at all some days. I know I feel that way many days!

I've learned from experience, all it takes is for the TC guy to be having a bad day!

Where exactly was that bottle castle? I remember going by it as a kid, but for the life of me, I can't remember where it was!
