http://instagr.am/p/Bd5o8jBHRwv The Oak Bay with the Northern Sea Wolf, 2017-Jan-13. A very unlikely scene to be set again! Unfortunately angles to shoot from are very limited. Especially with the North Star alongside behind the Oak Bay.https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/NORTHSTAR-IMO-9232280-MMSI-369285000

Oak Bay is in refit, currently at Seaspan in Esquimalt. I myself do not know return to service date - surely someone here does, though! I was checking the RBI at BC Ferries a few days ago, She is out until well into February. So if you like the Oak Bay, you're in luck her sister is operating on rt 2. The Queen of Surrey lvs HB at 6:35 pm and Departure Bay at 8:45 pm nightly.

I took the train several times as a lad from Vancouver to Edmonton and enjoyed it as you can imagine a kid would. I even got to go to the front and blew the horn inside the engine cab that was AWESOME!
I have had occasions in the past few years to take the train and would consider it. HOWEVER OMG!!!! It's cheaper to fly, which probably explains why the train was empty on the episode of Mighty Trains I saw.
Again If I was a gazillionair I would love to go to Halifax and back to Vancouver by train and it is on my bucket list.

Would be great if someone could get a picture of the twins together at Langdale. Hint, hint hint.
Oak Bay and Surrey.

Anyone know of if NSW has been registered with the Canadian flag yet? AIS still has her listed as her flag of convenience.
I don't know if they will change it now on AIS or wait until she is ready to go into service. Thanks

What I wouldn’t be surprised to see in the future is the Queen of Oak Bay’s afternoon schedule gets moved up 20 minutes so both her and the Queen of Cowichan are at Horseshoe Bay at 7:20 and have the Queen of Oak Bay do the 7:50 sailing to Langdale and back then tie up while the Queen of Cowichan heads to Departure Bay at 8 and the 10:10 sailings on Route 2 are scrapped What I am waiting for is for the Surrey to get "stuck" in Nanaimo and the Cowichan in Langdale during a unexpected wind storm.

Is the Spirit of VI going to have any type of refit this winter? I see she is listed for service right through, even though for a short period of time she will be opperating as the #2 ship.
I am wondering, because the Coastal Celebration and Coastal Inspiration needs thier refit too and trying to figure out how, before the shoulder and peak seasons start up again.
Usualy Celebration is replaced by the Renaissance before the Renaissance replaces the Inspiration. Just wondering if anyone has any "Inside" info.

We've been over this before. The exposure vs expenditure of a wrap is really not very good in comparison to a bus or even the seabus. RDN transit in Nanaimo had a bruha with the company that has the contract to put ads on the outside of the buses. RDN does not want adds on the CNG fleet because of the damage it causes to the paint when it's time to remove them. They also indicate that RDN does not get any significant revenue from the ads, especially when they would need to repair the damaged Paint. Newspaper articles on the subject: www.pqbnews.com/news/rdn-wont-allow-advertising-on-transit-buses/www.nanaimobulletin.com/news/regional-district-of-nanaimo-reviews-advertising-on-new-buses/Now magnify this problem to a vessel the size of the Seabus and BC Ferries. Though possible, I don't have BC Ferries will want this.

The bus I was on was sliding pretty good going around the corners yesterday afternoon in Parksville, mind you it was one of the Handydarts they use as a community bus #2389. Glad I made it.

How much longer does it take to fully load a Salish class ship verses one with platforms?
