This is one of the ferries in Norway that sails between to Kvitsøy on the Mekjarvik to Skudeneshavn Run, which in just outside of Stavanger. This ferry at 129.8 meters isn't little. Denne er for lmtengs det annet Norsk her over. 12,620 BCF should look into building two new vessels based on the same design (Although about 7.5 meters [24.3 feet] wider.) for the Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands and the Comox-Powell River runs, to replace the Nanaimo and Burnaby (Sorry to say this, but, those two ship are not getting any younger.). They should also consider building a third vessel that can work the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale run in the summer, then fill in for either her twin sisters or any larger vessel during slow travel periods. Stingray . It's an interesting concept, but I feel that at the very least, ferry riders on route 9 would feel a little bit claustrophobic without at least a little more lounge space on a ferry like this... for the Comox run, it might not matter as much.

I wasn't thinking so much of them for a BC ferry. They do have a very long pickle fork style deck that you can see in the open areas, But I don't think this would be a good Boat for any BC run. For the Reasons of to much work on either redoing the ends to load and unload, or build new docks just for them. Attachments:

There's a 96 percent chance I'm going to Norway next summer. I'll make an effort to try and get on the MV Bergensfjord. I'll be in the Bergen area, so it shouldn't be that hard for us to make a small detour.

Yes, they use visors and inboard ramps to load and unload, instead of shore-based vehicle ramps. But BCFerries is gonna have to do something similar to this with very high sidewalls and visors if they keep insisting on building nothing but open decked vessels like the Island Sky, because they need to be able to keep the sea out somehow on longer open channel crossings.

I was thinking the same thing. A vessel like this with perhaps a slightly larger passenger cabin and more outside deck areas (if possible) might be a good fit for Comox-Powell River and Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands. I've got to think a bow visor modified to work with existing BC Ferries docks is feasible, so there you have it - the new "Gulf Class" ferry!

(spelled like the accent ;D) You've given a few clues in recent weeks, and I was curious.

Well this is one of the Real coastal ferries they sail up and down the Norwegian coast, as well as over to Iceland. I think the best way to describe them is a cross between the Alaska boats and the Northern BC route ferries. With just a hint of Cruise-ship to them, so people often use them as such. 12,797

My part of the family immigrated to Canada in 1962, and I am of direct descendency of Viking Royalty (it's been more than 700 years though) Some of us live in BC, others scattered around the USA, some had their names changed from Tengs to Thengs by US customs, for no apparent reasons, and some of us are still in Norway, which is the reason that I'm going there this coming summer. EDIT: if my family's ancient plans had rolled out perfectly, I would either be the Prince (soon to be king), or the Princes cousin (we aren't sure....)

Forsiktig den lyder like en Norsk alv - make a speech. JEG også er Norsk og har en meget kraftig slekt line. Bortsett fra JEG ville det ikke gå snakkende om den online. So anyways back to the ferryboats...

Thanks, They are all done with what is known as a water mark because of many problems about my drawings IE concerns from BC ferries, and issues of who drew them. So for those reasons every drawing here has been resized and water marked. Far as a link to the drawings with out water marks, Best thing I can say is Check out Evergreens website, www.evergreenfleet.com there are many on there that won't be post here.

I saw this ferry during my summer holiday on the "Bodensee" (Lake Constance). They have at least two of it. As the Lake Constance is enclosed, they have a shipyard that can built vessels for this lake. If the past, some ships have been built in parts on other yards and assembled at the lake. If you don´t know, where this lake is, click here maps.google.de/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=de&geocode=&q=bodensee&sll=51.151786,10.415039&sspn=16.924247,39.155273&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Bodensee&ll=47.597829,9.394684&spn=0.567665,1.223602&t=h&z=10

From what little I know about the ferries there is they have 8-car ferries The newest one built in 2004 and another knew one being built now and it to be in use by summer of next year 2010. The biggest of their fleet is the Konstanz. I don't know much about them in fact I only know the names and years 6 of them were built. 1963 - Fritz Arnold 1970 - Fontainbleau 1975 - Konstanz 1980 - Meersburg 1993 - Kreuzlingen 2004 - Tabor Attachments:

From what little I know about the ferries there is they have 8 car ferries. That's very odd sounding so I will ask: Are you sure you don't mean 80?

Here's where a little "Mrs. Dash" would help to spice up the interpretation. We've got 2 choices, depending on where we place the invisible dash: 1) they have 8-car ferries. 2) they have 8 car-ferries. So, here we see that someone's lack of a punctuation mark (used for cosmetic-clarification) is causing confusion for a teenager. How wonderfully ironic.

I wasn't thinking about it that way... P.S: Only most of us don't use proper punctuation marks... most NOT including me...

Sorry I confused the kid. But then again he is "the Prince (soon to be king)" of Norway. He must only understand things that are perfectly written... Oh well that happens when you read and speak four languages. My bad.....
