Well how about a little bit lighter subject please. Ferryboat drawing... And one that is of a boat about 18 hours away by airplane. The Freshwater is one of 31 ferries in Sydney Australia.

Well how about a little bit lighter subject please. To carry on on the lighter note...I would suggest a certain Mr Hankey would be a suitable artistic representation of the BCF logo...I would also consider artistically interpreting a certain grumpy, green Dr Suess character... ;D

Well Mr Whidbeyislandguy,
I have been a huge fan of your work, especially when you covered most of our fleet. I really liked your concept for the new Alaska Class Ferry. Would love to see more. Maybe the Wickersham, or the Chilkat?
Don't let this get you down, keep up the good work!

Well, yet again, the brass at BCFS prove to the world that they are nothing but bullies! There are many ways his letter could have read, but the tone of it capitalizes the above statement.
Some companies are much more particular about their logo than others. When I was the Ops Mgr. at the Albion Ferries I remember getting a similarly worded letter from the Vice President of the BC Red Cross advising us to 'cease and desist' using a red cross to indicate the location of the first aid station, a symbol that had been provided to us years before in a decal format from one of the safety supply houses. He indicated that not only were we to use the red cross, but don't even think about using the reverse image as that was the official flag of Switzerland. His advice was to utilize a green cross instead. So, brand protection is alive and well!
Another way of putting it from the BCFS side would have been "we really love your drawings and would like to commission you to do some for us. Might I provide the logo to you in a format you can utilize, just to ensure it is correct".
Bullies!

Love it! I have always been partial to the Chilkat, even though I never got to ride her. I even looked into purchasing her one of the last times she was up for sale. (But then what?) It just saddens me to see the first vessel of our fleet wasting away like that. Also, your Wickersham looks great to me. Especially in her Blue and Gold livery. Thanks again, and keep up the good work! ~LeC

I don't know if she was The Original Stena Danica 1 or 2 Welcome! You're "preaching to the converted", on this forum. The ferry purchased by BC Ferries in 1974 was the Stena Danica 2.

So I thought I would do the first 2 Stena Danica boats. During the winter of 1967-68, Stena Danica was chartered to Townsend Car Ferries for Dover-Zeebrugge services. In 1969 Stena Danica was sold to Canadian National Railways and renamed Lucy Maud Montgomery. She was sused initially between Cape Tormentine and Port Borden, and from 1971 between North Sydney and Port aux Basques. In 1975, Lucy Maud Montgomery was chartered to Cooperative de Transport et Aeriens (C.T.M.A.). She entrered service between Grindstone, Magdalen Islands and Souris, Prince Edward Island. In 1977, the service was taken over by the Canadian Ministry of Transport. Lucy Maud Montgomery was laid up in 1998, and briefly renamed Hull 209. She was sold in 1999, with the inytention of running gambling cruises out of Key West, but she remained laid up in Ket West under the name Lady Clare I. Stena Danica (2) was built by A.G. Wesser Werk Seebeck, Bremerhaven. She entered service with Stena Line in 1969 between Göteborg and Fredrikshavn. In 1974, Stena Danica (2) was sold to British Columbia Ferries and renamed Queen of Surrey. Queen of Surrey was used on the Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) to Nanaimo service. She was laid up from 1975-80, but was then rebuilt with 208 berths and reintroduced on the Prince Rupert to Port Hardy service as Queen of the North. On 22nd March 2006 Queen of the North hit a rock and sank near Gil Island, 80 miles (129 km) south of Prince Rupert. Enjoy 13,942

Yes you know her everyone loved to hate her! I think the only reason why everyone hated her so was just because she wasn't the the Maggie. But she did have a lot of the old steamer feel to her when you were one her. She had lots of beautiful old dark wood work. But outside she had to be one of the Ugliest things you have ever seen. So as i finished working on the Crown Princess Victoria I remembered there is one more that I really should do. being as how she was her running mate... 14,082

Hi
I liked the Crown Princess Victoria and the Vancouver Island Princess. But the Maggie was probabaly the Nicest looking ship on the Coast. Iv often heard it claimed the Queen Of the North was the Fastest having once beat the Columbia in a race.
The Queen Of the North had a speed of 21 Knots the Maggie's was 24.

With all the talk about the Coho I thought it was only fitting to post a redone drawing of her. I also read on the boards here somewhere that at one point something about the Queen of Sidney being used by Black Ball, so I thought I'd have a little fun. 14,465
