Does anyone have a CAD drawing of our County Ferry, the Whatcom Chief? Some of my fellow Islanders would like to see it in the same frame as other Ferries, like the Chrisitine Anderson or Steilacoom II to see the size difference. Thanks, Jim This has been completed and emailed to you. ENJOY!

Ok so here are some old ones that used to go to West Seattle, and one of them is still around as a Houseboat in Sausalito. It's kind of funny to think many of the old ferries in washington came from San Francisco bay, and yet a few of the ferries from here went down there. 17,273

With all the talk about her today I thought I might try drawing her. Not quite so sure about this one, but at-least from what I could find she is close. 17,323

You will Notice there is No Logo waves or wording use of BC ferries. While I have been working on boats I haven't felt like I dare post till I had everything worked out, so there will be NO waves and NO BCFerries word logo.. So I thought I would start out with some old boats and I mean old boats. Enjoy! ;D 17,401

Great drawings! I must ask though: Just out of curiosity, why do you always post a number at the bottom of your posts? In this last one it was 17,727 and the one before it was 17,465. Is there a reason for it?

Is there a reason for it? Come one you can put it together.. It's a very simple way of tracking how many views for each post I do with drawings.. lol Lets me know what drawings are liked more.

Great job you did with that! Which 3D program did you use?

Rhino 4.0 to create the ferryboat. Ultimate Unwrap 3D to create the UV maps. PhotoShop 7.0 to paint the UV maps. Then Maya for the after effects like water, clouds, smoke, etc.

Beautiful job! I'd love to see the Chinook myself. If you need any photos of it (or the Kalakala or Iroquois for that matter) let me know and I'd be happy to email them to you!

I forgot to mention. The Queen of the North would be a great one you could do. Even better, the Queen of The North, Queen of Prince Rupert, Queen of Chilliwack, Northern Adventure, and Northern Expedition all side-by-side. That's all of BC Ferries' northern vessels that have served in their 50 years.

Just for fun, why don't you do the Barnston Island ferry? There's some recent photos of it in the Inland ferries thread, under 'Other BC Ferries'

Here's another view of the Iroquois. I used a "final render" on this which improves the quality a lot but takes longer to render. Right now I want to concentrate on the ferryboats, ships and planes to recreate a World War 2 Puget Sound. Sorry no BC ferries (unless they were WW2 era and Seattle was a scheduled run). img.photobucket.com/albums/v713/mike_w123/IROQPIC-3.jpg

No BC Ferries? How about eventual BC Ferries like the Bainbridge (Jervis Queen), City of Sacramento (Kahloke/Langdale Queen) and Quillayute? ;D

How about eventual BC Ferries like the Bainbridge (Jervis Queen), City of Sacramento (Kahloke/Langdale Queen) and Quillayute? ;D You mean like these... they have been seen before but here you go. After all the problems I have had with BC ferries, I will not post or do any more ferries that are in BC. Sorry Viking... 17,978

This is little off the subject. They will be doing a play at the Deception Pass Amphitheater on Berte Olson, Saturday Aug 7 at 7 PM.
In the article in today's South Whidbey Record they mentioned the Berte Olson had two new Ferryboats when she had on the routes at Port Gamble - Shine and later when she had a route at Seabeck to Brinnon. The two new boats were the "Lake Constance and the Klatawa. Are there any pictures of these two boats for Johan to draw from.....Emory at Freeland.

I think the reporter of South Whidbey Record had typo error on name Klatawa, probably was should have been the Clatawa which shows up on Evergreenfleet's web page.
The other Ferry Lake Constance is on page 178 of Pacific Steamboats by Gordan Newell and Joe Williamson. Rather Bold Lettering on it's side ( Port Gamble - Shine ).

Evergreenfleet has sharp eyes. He spotted name Acorn on that picture I send him. So photo index on Pacific Stamboats has problem listing both Acorn and Lake Constance on page 178. So looks like there is no photo of Lake Constance.

Evergreenfleet sent me a pictue of the front end of the Lake Constance. So there is a front view of her. Fairly tall and looks larger then most of Bertie's Ferries. They finally posted the article about story teller doing a play on Bertie Olson this weekend at Deception State Park. This is a good article on history of Bertie Olson. www.pnwlocalnews.com/whidbey/swr/entertainment/99894634.htmlEmory at Freeland

Yes it too bad they only have front view of that Lake Constance. Interesting that Langley Historical Society has photos on display of Bertie Olson. I will have to check it out over the weekend. whidbeyexaminer.com/main.asp?SectionID=2&SubSectionID=2&ArticleID=4241Photos of first female ferry captain go on display The South Whidbey Historical Museum in Langley has unveiled a new exhibit called "Photos of Berte Olson: Puget Sound's First Female Ferry Captain," to be on display through Aug. 29. Between 1919 and 1950 Berte Olson operated four ferry runs on Puget Sound, including the Deception Pass ferry, which was put out of business by the completion of the bridge in 1935. Olson owned the franchise for the Black Ball Line’s Port Gamble-Shine run on Hood Canal and formed the Olympic Navigation Company in 1936. It was the first ferry boat company owned and operated by a woman on Puget Sound. Associated with the museum exhibit is the Washington State Arts in the Park presentation of "Little, But OH My! The story of Berte Olson." The performance by renowned South Whidbey storyteller Jill Johnson will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug.7 at the Deception Pass State Park Amphitheater. Johnson spent three years in research for and creation of the production. The South Whidbey Historical Museum is located at 312 Second Street in Langley.

Do you still want a photo of the Clatawa? I found a splendid one in the Vancouver Public Library today that you might want to use for a drawing.
