I can shed a little light onto what this is all about. Every year, the senior class at Orcas High School paints a mural on this shed. It's one of the rites of passage at the school, although, this is the first year I recall seeing a ferry image added to the scene. This year's class actually got creative. They've been doing this since long before I was at school there, and the tradition seems to be continuing. Over the years, I understand they've had to go and really beef up the structure of that shed to keep it standing so the high schooler's wouldn't fall through the roof when painting it. I hope you had a nice visit to my island. We'll be going up again in a couple of weeks for more work on the house. This year has been all about fixing the Orcas house. What a neat idea on that shed, and thanks for filling us in on that tradition. Orcas has become a very special place to me. My great grandparents homesteaded on 160 acres in 1885, around the area where the Victorian Valley chapel now stands, and the people at the museum, and in particular, a couple of their volunteers (including a very cool older lady named Virginia Jensen) have been wonderful in collecting information and showing me family artifacts in their collection. Today, a couple who live in a house that was moved from Eastsound to the Deer Harbor area, once occupied by my grand aunt, showed me around their home, and were clearly interested in its heritage. Everyone has made me feel like I was doing them a favor by inquiring about my family history. I've certainly been left with the impression that Orcas's natural treasures are matched by the people who live there... especially those working on preserving its history.

Here's something I drew a long time ago - a concept replacement for the Jumbo ferries (Spokane & Walla Walla) several years before the Jumbo Mark II ferries were introduced. I just found this in a box of old stuff I've been going through - thought it might be fun to post it.

But on the other hand, I do like the livery on the boat.

I actually thought it was a BCFerries fantasy design at first. It's a very nice, appealing design. I don't know where this business of ugly came from.

Your Greenhouse Lounges amidships would sure invite passengers to sit with the flowers. As long as big sneezes don't rock the boat! This is the "FERRY OF TOMORROW".

You know, it's too bad that all the drawings on this thread by "whidbeyislandguy" aren't available anymore. I really wish I could see what they looked like!

Found another black and white pen & ink drawing I did a LONG time ago, so I scanned it in and am posting it here. This is a fictional setting sort of based on Mukilteo, but not Mukilteo, and certainly not with a Super coming into dock.

What happened to WhidbeyIslandGuy anyway? I had most of his drawing saved, and was just missing the CP Princess ships and Clipper Navigation vessels he did as they'd be really useful to me at the moment, since I've been redoing a lot of his old drawings and as well drawing my own. For example

What happened to WhidbeyIslandGuy anyway? He didn't like people posting criticisms of the Kwa-di Tabil ferries, and he told us so. Us moderators weren't willing to restrict people from making critical posts about the KdT ferries, and we told him so. So he deleted his membership. It was that simple...

After a hiatus, some time away from the ferry hobby and a honeymoon (I recently remarried), I am back. Remember the M.V. Kalakala model I did for Flight Simulator? It's about to become part of an interactive 3D web walkthrough of the vessel in a few months, and I've been requested to supply it. For the last month and a half, I have been making a series of major fixes to the model to bring it up to to-the-window accuracy plus a series of major changes to bring the model to a more realistic appearance. I've also updated a lot of stuff to it, and it is now nearing completion. Here's a couple updated screenshots.
