In todays pic on the website you can see the various levels clearly. First the main car deck with the centre divider. Second the upper car deck. Then the two passenger decks. I would love to see a person in the pic to get the perspective right. I wish the module plan would keep up with the actual photos so you could tell better what we are seeing. That would be a lot of work though on a daily basis I suppose.

Won't be long till she hits the water for the first time. She's being built quite fast.

In today's Nanaimo daily news it is reported that the first boat is way ahead of schedual and is now supposed to arrive in BC in late October. During November she will be undergoing training, sea trials etc for crew and will be sailing between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay in December!

If they're screwing BC out of jobs it's nice it'll at least mean a fast delivery!

Well at least they keep the people who don't know about Flensburger's website updated on what's happening.

Wish BC Ferries would post a floor plan. Even a simplified one would be great.

I don't know if it's still online but under the newbuild programme page on the BC Ferries website there is a video that takes you through the passenger area of a Super C.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but has anyone checked the "Newbuild" section lately on BC Ferries' website? I checked it for the first time in month or two, just now, and look what I found: www.bcferries.com/about/newbuild/ . They've been updating it recently with a lot more information, and...pictures!

The following is quoted from the BCFS's official website 'New Build' page. See if you can spot the typo...

Yup, guess they are building the Inspiration twice. A lot of perspiration for twice as much inspiration. And I guess we will be twice as inspired when it comes to the celebration of the three ships in service ;D

Looks like they have already begun painting the vessel. Here's progress you see that couldn't be done in local shipyards.

She's looking better everyday. They've probably assembled about a quarter of the ship.

Am I correct in asuming that the Super C's will not have a Platform or Gallery deck as on the C Class and V Class?
I am getting more excited everyday just waiting for it to be in service.

You are completely incorrect. What is said to be is an S class like platform deck.

My understanding is NO platform, gallery or ramp decks. Just a lower over height deck holding 185 auto equivalents, and the upper under height deck also holding 185 auto equivalents, for a total of 370 vehicles. (see www.fsg-ship.de/bcf733/3basicdat/inhalt.html) The auto capacity of these vessels is, on paper, a fair bit smaller than the S class. On the other hand, when you consider that the S class platform decks are hardly ever used, the 'real' car capacity is not much different. BTW, can anyone confirm that these vessels will have speed equivalent to that of the original C's - i.e. able to do a four hour round trip time on route 2 or 5 hours on route 3? If so they will be faster then needed for route 1. Another point, other than being double ended and big they really have very little in common with the original C class. As an example there is just one machinery casing down the ships' centre, as opposed to two on old C's.

***idiots**** I wonder if they added in retractable platforms by doing a three zone load like the C class would the capacity be greater than the 370?

I am sure that BC Ferries could add platforms in the future if they aren't in the original plans.
