Thanks Markus - we can always count on you to keep feeding our addiction. Looks funny seeing the shed and dry dock dark and quiet. But only for a few days. The superstructure that arrived must be the pilothouse sections of the deckhouse.

Why are balloons released into the atmosphere by a yard that is of a country of people that green-conscious North Americans envy for their devotion to recycling, etc., etc.?
No offence intended, I've just been wondering.

Danke Markus. I love the title and credit for the video.
Not to sidetrack the thread but you can buy the balloons here now as well. They are made with from a form of cornstarch that disolves pretty quickly especially when wet. More stores are using shopping bags made from a similar process rather than the plastic bags that take a gazillion years to decompose. We have green bins here for compostable materials that is collected on garbage day. I put all my vegetable material already in a composter but use the green bin for meat and other foods with fat or sugar in it. If you just dump your food scraps in the bin it gets pretty gross quickly. We are allowed to use mini garbage bags made of the compostable corn material in the green bin to keep it neater and cleaner.

thanks for the great pics markus i was wondering if the steel jacket around the rudder at shore end[at launch time]was to protect the rudder from striking the bottom of the marine ways when it was fully off and also i was wondering why the launch had seemingly been delayed? thanks

Great video and photos of the launch. Congratulations to our German friends on a successful flotation of a new vessel of yours. To "shipchandler" on his posting today at 3:04pm, I think we were told by our German friend that the steel assembly surrounding the rudder protects it during launches and is removed afterwards. Would have been good if we were let known of the revised launch time. Maybe next time. Also, we need the webcams on a server with a greater clientele viewing capacity so we don't see the code 503 during heavy viewing moments. Quite fun to see the masts being hoisted to their preliminary resting places before final installation! ;D

It's a beautiful new morning at FSG. A worker is taking down the protective plastic barriers (for launch day visitors) and getting the workplace back in business. Could this be the day we see the ends installed aboard CI?

to answer some questions: The deckhouses will be set on CI on monday - what I heard. It is delayed because the giant floating crane could not be in Flensburg on time, so it will come later. The launching was a little delayed as the mechanism which holds the sledge on the slipway (the stopper) did not fully release first - which was the first time since 20 years or so... - so we had to free this thing first with the help of a diver and then could make the next try. As this was not planned we also could not announce a new launching time. A funny story to the delay: One little daughter of a BCFS Engineer said, she could understand that the lady does not want to leave the slipway, because it is raining outside ;D How true - later the sun was shining and she went into the water.

OH MY if the daughter knows something about the Coastal Inspiration we don't we are in for trouble. Imagine Miss Inspiration's reaction when she meets the BC Coast and the rain there. She may refuse to leave the dock on rainy days. Ooops there goes the schedules.

How do you get access to these more detailed webcam shots? I went to the IP sites 77.72.146.38&9. When I go to 2x I get a fairly pixelated shot. The time stamp in the bottom right also doubles. I tried downloading the mpeg4 software, no dif. Please advise.

There is a curser on top of the ad. Just click this to move this aside. Excellent resolution, considering the great distance between here (Seattle) and Flensburg. To us, at least to me, Flensburg is quite part of our maritime community now as we have become attached to this neat German town during the construction of these magnificent masterpieces we'll be riding here soon (and to see on our Seattle waterfront on their delivery voyages). Many thanks to the person who is providing this video service to us. Enjoy! ;D
