Are there any eyewitness accounts out there? as to whether the CC is in or out of dry dock.

I was quite suprised that she was in the drydock on Friday, I had heard that a BC Ferry was supposed to arrive on Monday. I think that they are doing warranty work on her, but I do not know what. Anyway if I find out anything I will let you know.

SiTech is wrong, She is still sitting in the drydock, on blocks, out of the water, as of an hour ago.

They must have temporarily removed her GPS antenna.

Siitech is wrong every now and then. I have seen ships on siitech where no ship can go. Either that or the repairs have upset the calibration or interfering with the location data the ship is broadcasting. If the antenna was gone you would think it just wouldn't show up. The Siitech we see isn't a replacement for proper electronic charts with absolutely accurate GPS and radar positioning, so I imagine we can't really blame the site either.

Nope, the CC decided to head up the Strait right now and I think she went through Active Pass as well.

I'm thinking she did some dock trials.

Apparently she picked up a few cars belonging to her Senior crew, and then headed for Departure bay. The cars being so that they could drive home after they dropped her off, remember that it is a Swartz Bay based boat.
I bet that there were some pissed off people when she showed up, loaded 10 cars and left again.

well now the CC is now docked at tsawassen normaly where the Queen of Nanimo docks, I assume it has got to do with the dock trials.

Where did BC Ferries get the extra crew all of a sudden?

Keep in mind that when the ship isn't carrying passengers, they can run with a skeleton crew. An A license on the Spirits needs 52 crew, but a skeleton crew for repositioning only needs 12. I would imagine it is about the same for the coastals.

An A license on the Spirits needs 52 crew, but a skeleton crew for repositioning only needs 12. That's referred to as a "D" licence.

Those shots are beautiful. I bet Retro will like seeing two Super C's at his favourite terminal simultaneously.

There was no mistaking what Coastal this was, her lack of noise was also a clear give away... ok, time for skool: Why was a lack of noise an indication of which sister she is? Are you referring to the helicopter-sound? If so, was the recent dry-dock work fixing that sound? =============== ps: Isn't Donella very pervasive these days? She's everywhere. I hear that she'll be in Denver for the Democratic Convention later this week (JFK won't be there, but Bubba will be....). She may also be doing a boat trip with former US Senator Garry Hart. And wasn't she just recently a special-guest of the Chinese Gov't at the Beijing Olympics? Next week she's on Letterman, and after that she will be guesting on The View. Then there's the CBC TV movie "Degrassi: the ferry fan generation".

Yeah, I know they only need 12-15 crew members to operate the ferry, but they seem to have problems getting 3-4 crew members for in-service ferries all through the summer so that they can operate at full capacity.
