Scott no doubt is correct. However, go on bcferries.com 'Travel Centre' and check out the schedule for Earls Cove - Saltery Bay. Check it out for any day from this Thursday forward until the end of June.
It says the vessel in service will be the 'N/A'. Now what vessel has those initials? Certainly not the I Sky.

From the BC Ferries profile page: www.bcferries.com/about/fleet/That is one hurting profile pic! Does not even look remotely close! You can't even say they did a chop job of the Capilano profile The profile silhouette appears to be a magnified silhouette of the Kuper... But that's not even the Kuper's original silhouette image, either. Originally, the shape of the Kuper's image was much different until it was changed randomly a few months ago.

Does this quote from the article not seem a little too sugar coated? BCFerries has not done any of this ramping up of excitement, not for the support of our local shipyards and shipbuilders, and definitely not to improve their relations with local users of the ferries. If anything, the building and entering into service of this ship was very much a cloak and dagger affair to the degree that I'd be surprised if even half the population of the Sunshine Coast is even aware of it despite the open house and now this nice warm, fuzzy article, not to mention the fact that the ferry has been sitting at Saltery Bay for some weeks now. But for all intents and purposes, it was made to seem, for the longest time, like it didn't even exist... and now they want people to be glad and appreciate it? Hopefully it turns out to be a long-serving and reliable vessel, so we can put all those myths and rumors about it to rest.

I think that her deck looks like it will be a nightmare to load. Hopefully she doesn't end up like the Queen of the Islands.

From the angle of the picture in the press release, it doesn't look like a vehicle would be able to drive straight through the length of the vessel without turning one way or the other. It's probably not as bad as it seems, but it doesn't look very convenient.

Looking at that deck, I can imagine there will be a learning curve for loading efficiency during the peak season. There's a lot of over-heights on that run, and I can see a bit of ballet rehearsal to make sure there's room to squeeze all the cars along the outer lanes.

Compared to the Queen of Tsawwassen with her platform decks and the need to shoehorn vehicles into the very narrow lanes if they wanted to carry listed capacity, this vessel will be a breeze to load. Usually the ' Tsawwassen carried many less than her 130 or so vehicle capacity because of the tight fit, so the Island Sky will represent an increase in actual available space.

So BC Ferries is now implying that the Island Sky is the Kuper on steroids?

So BC Ferries is now implying that the Island Sky is the Kuper on steroids? Well then we can give the ship a baseball themed nickname. I-Rod

Rearrange the letters in "Island Sky" and you get "Lady Sinks".

Enough with the bashing of this neat vessel. I think she'll have a fine career. Hope to ride her one day. How is this? This is my rendition.

No wonder the ferry was so long in development, they had to work the juice out of her system before the beginning of the race and potential oil tests.

This is my rendition. That's so much better than the profile BC Ferries created! Seriously, you should send your image to them.

Well, you probably should anti-alias the image first, or make a vector graphic of it.

BC Ferries has got to have some sort of technical drawings of their ships (old & new). Either scan in the old drawings and do a vector trace of the side profile, and voila!
For newer ships.. its likely even easier.. open the technical files on a computer and from there you have something you'd likely be able export to EPS.. simplify the vector file a little and you're done.
There shouldn't be any guess work done in this simple graphics.. and I still fail to understand why the Queen of Vancouver looks SO different (and has for years) than the Queen of New West. I don't get it..

I'm glad somebody told them to fix the silhouette. Could you also tell them to put up the image they had up before. The new one is too tall and not as nice. So have any of you guys up near saltery bay gone to get pictures of the island sky in service? Today should be her first in service day ! Unfortunately you'll have to wait until Saturday for me to get out there since... 1, I'm nowhere near Saltery Bay. and 2, School.
