The forum's spell-check hasn't been working for me, for the past couple of days. Has anyone else noticed this? (Karl, don't bother answering this one...haha) The forum has spell-check? Never paid enough attention to notice it. Nifty though. Is it fairly new?

Never paid enough attention to notice it. Nifty though. Is it fairly new? Yes. Figures (just kidding ). No. - actually, you see it every single time that you post. Next time you post, and are ready to hit the "post reply" button, move your eyes slightly to the right, focus, translate/comprehend and take a short breath and see what it says. And then answer me this riddle: - for a hobby that depends on a fine attention to very fine detail, how come we (lots of us) seem to miss various fine details, but always spot others? I know that I miss lots of stuff, but still see lots of other fine detail. I wonder why, and it's not always the 8.5% Imperial Stout's fault. and for the record, mine is working again. It might be a more pervasive crappy-computer issue for me.

What the bleep's going on with my account on the forum?
Some kind of robot's messing with it, and putting in some really annoying formatting. Notice the weird accented 'A's in my signature on both sides of the disclaimer. and in the lefthand sidebar, what's supposed to be a french 'Ã ' has turned itself into some weird spanish capital A with a ~ on top.
I tr to change it back to normal, and it works until I refresh the page once, then it switches it back. I've had my signature and sidebar looking as it does for weeks now, and it just started tonight.
So, I'll refrain from ranting and just ask what's up? It's bugging me a fair bit.

In the quoted post, it's supposed to be a letter 'a' with a small backslash on top (accent aigu en francais), but it's showing up as the spanish capital A with a squiggly on top. What's going on? It shows up properly when I'm typing it, but now suddenly as I post it, the forum (or something) is effing up.

And now it's showing up PROPERLY again in all the posts except for the quote itself???
Excuse the triple-posting, I'm just trying to wrap my head around this really annoying glitch. Hows about I leave and come back tomorrow, hoping everything's back to normal again?
BTW, If anybody else is experiencing this, please speak up.

My guess would be that the problem was caused by ferry-forum group trip to Powell River (we blame most of the late night forum odditites on that trip, and things that happen on it, haha).

I'd like to raise my thoughts and suggestions, about 3 of our BCF Boards:
My main thought is how valid the New Vessels Board is at this time. As we know the bulk of the current NewBuild Program is in a bit of a lull at the moment. This is my suggestion, why don't we make the board into discussion for all New and Current Vessels similar to the way the photo board keeps all the ship-specific threads together without the photo board's sub-boards.
My next suggestion is similar to the last. It involves the General Discussion and News boards. In many ways I find the two boards are related because without news, there of course would be no discussion and because of this these two boards the threads or posts can clash with each other. So why not merge the threads together making it less confusing where to put these threads and posts while increasing activity in the general discussion thread and the new vessel thread more than now.
Thoughts?

I like the General Discussion and news threads separated, personally. One thing that would be nice though is to have separate threads for discussion and photos of certain historic ships. Of course, only the higher traffic threads would be split in two. Also, it would be great to have the historic ferries board arranged into sub-boards for ship class, era, and/or company to sort the ships better, sort of as was done in the BCF Photos board. The historic ferries board is really just in a jumble right now.

The historic ferries board is really just in a jumble right now. I agree that the historic "in their wake" board is a jumble right now, but it's a small jumble at only 4 pages long, so it's pretty quick and easy to scroll through. But I'm interested in doing some sort of separation on that page between ferries and steamships, without worrying about the ambiguous ships (ie. I'm not sweating about which category to put a near-ferry into). I try some changes in the next couple of days; I've got some ideas that should make the page easier to navigage and to keep organized.

Am I the only person who's having the problem of the little 'unread' flag popping up on every thread on the entire forum?

Ditto on that one. I almost thought some remarkable post frenzy happened in the last few hours.

I have checked everything on our end, and there is nothing that has been changed or altered.
ProBoards has been notified.

Thanks for the confirmation about the random 'unread' flags... I'm getting them as far back as Sept. 30.

I've merged a couple recent "short term" threads into the "Why the Sky is Blue?" thread:
1) The Barbra Streisand "like butter" thread, which was only intended to be a short-term joke. It has served its purpose of laughter.
2) A recent "How the heck do I ?" mystery thread which seems to fit perfectly into the criteria of the "Why the Sky is Blue?" criteria.

I noticed the new Save Our Ferries link on the header bar. So, are we now affiliated with them in some way, or is the link just there for the sake of it?

Wasn't there some fun Christmas decor on the forum header last year and the year before? Has it just not been upgraded to the new forum design yet?

Has it just not been upgraded to the new forum design yet? Yes, that is the case, unfortunately. In the New Year, I'll get the new headers upgraded, starting with the Queen of the North in March.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

A funny proboards error message that I've gotten twice today. Why exactly have I been getting it? Attachments:

I have gotten a lot of enjoyment from the AMHS section of this board, although I don't think that there are not enough of us for the "critical mass" to maintain our own group. I want to thank you all for providing us a s pace and letting us "piggyback" on your work and expertise.

I want to thank you all for providing us a s pace and letting us "piggyback" on your work and expertise. I think most Forum members are very interested in Alaska's system. We don't get much of a chance to experience it, and we appreciate the input of the few Alaskans on the board. Taking the Tustumena to Dutch Harbor someday is definitely near the top of my ferry wish list.
