I was watching the crews washing down the "Cathedral" and preparing it for the next builds, the Turkish Ferries. So I thought it would be a good thing to start a thread so we can still bug Markus about these ones too. Don't want him to miss all our questions too badly  . *They were working at 5am in the European time zone.

Since the next two ships you are bulding (the UN Ro-Ro) has much less deck house and fewer passenger areas, is it easier to build/more efficient for the yard? They are follow on orders so the last two ferries before the Coastals were the same right? I would imagine repeat orders of the same or similar design is easier to come together because there would be fewer changes and you have built them before.
What are the accomodations like for these ferries and types of routes they are used on?

Looks like the cribbing is all in place to start the next builds. Also appears to be hull sections already in place on the other side of the NorEx modules. Disappointed to not see anyone working at 00:48 German time. Must be slacking off in between jobs  . A question for the Mods. I forgot about the General Flensburger thread. Should this be moved there or is it different enough to leave here?

I think this Turkish-delight thread is ok as a stand-alone, as we may be paying a fair bit of attention to these 2 ferries that are between the C-Celebration and the N-Expedition. I think that we might be learning a thing or two about other ferries' design, from watching the hoopla and progress of these 2 Turkish ships.

I have my fingers crossed) I think they are named "Akdeniz" and "Karadeniz" but I think it has not been finally decided. Ob this RoRo there´s only crew space and no passenger. Are you sure that ferry isn't being made of LEGO? It looks like it is being snapped together so quickly  . I could see the bow pieces sitting near the NorEx module, you blink and then they are in place. Hmmm one of these sort of ferries would make a good truck/drop trailer ferry.

At least everybody got off OK.
She definitely looks like she is going to be a "write off". Any word on the cause of the fire?
This is probably a little premature, but are there going to be any changes to the design of the ships FSG is currently building to reflect this incident?

That's an absolutely huge fire. It appears as though the entire length of the ship was involved and they were using firefighting planes to try to put out the fire. It is apparently beyond saving and likely to sink though.

It is assumed, that a truck caught fire on the main deck. But it is too early to have a clear view. There will be no design impacts, as everything is state-of-the art and according rules and regulations. But if someone does not press the "Start sprinkler-system" button, every vessel can burn down..

Wow birkmann.. that is quite a fire.. We would be intrested to see more photos of how the decks and bulkheads contained the fire (or how well they did) Ihave often wonderd what a full lenght car deck fire would do to an A60 bulhkead.
Is a Hi Fog system ever fitted to the car deck? Or are the sprinklers supposed to be heat triggerd?

It is funny that I stumbled on this thread now, as when I saw the footage of that ferry on fire on the news in the hotel room, I thought to myself "that looks like an FSG design" ... ironic. Sorry to hear that one of your ships has sustained a loss Markus.
As others say, it may be interesting from a design point of view to see how the ship survived the incident - not necessarily to modify any designs (as you say, they are up to date), but just to have some real-world data and evaluation on how the ship and the design fared during the fire - you can't BUY that kind of testing under real-world conditions.
