Is BCF stuck with it's ships on thier routes or will we ever see a spirit on say a horseshoe bay route or the cumberland at tswwassen or even the queen of new west a swartz bay. Why can't they move the ships around, is it just because what works is good and no need to move them(quoting red green "if it aint broke don't fix it").

The Queen of New West has been at Swartz Bay before. It would be neat to see the Spirits on route 2 or 30 and the C class on route 1.
Hey Mr Engineer person, I take it you work on the Cumbie??? One of me favorite gulf islands ferries. Can ya give me a job on her?? lol!! Just kidding! If I was ever to get a job with the ferries the Cumbie would be a neat and quiet little ship to work on.

I don't think the Spirits could fit in the docks at Departure Bay or Horseshoe Bay properly. I know when a spirit is taken out of service at Tsawwassen and it's usually SOBC and it sits in berth 3 and never berth 2. And theres one extra dock for SOVI at Swartz Bay. But then again cumbie and Mayne Queen use those docks. What do the BCF workers have to say about that? Is BCF stuck with it's ships on thier routes or will we ever see a spirit on say a horseshoe bay route or the cumberland at tswwassen or even the queen of new west a swartz bay. Why can't they move the ships around, is it just because what works is good and no need to move them(quoting red green "if it aint broke don't fix it").

You just rebuild the terminals and you could fit them in. Horseshoe bay would be intresting docking with a spirit.

I'd assume the only reason the Spirits cannot dock in HB or DB is because of their size, they might crush the "bumpers". Either that OR HB and DB have poor manoeuverability for single-ended ships.

Yes and no to that. The V-Class use those docks all of the time. There is also one dock at HB and DP that was specially modified for the Fastcats. The dock at HB for the Fastcat isn't used that often by the other C-Class but is mostly used by Queen of Capilano mostly because the foot passenger ramp has to go on the very top upper deck instead of the regular passenger deck, and makes it so foot passengers can board from the foot passenger ramp instead of the car deck ramp and holding up traffic. But there isn't a problem at DB, that dock is used by all of the ships and then dock the C-Class would of been using if the Fastcats worked is only used if a ship is parked there for the night because the upper car deck ramp is alot narrower having one lane instead of two.

the terminal at horshoe bay only had minor modification for the fast cats (the major adaptaions were the Massive lip on the Fast Cats) and they have never talked about putting modifications @ HB, im assuming cause the spirits are fine where they are right now. and are the ship specially designed for the route

A V-class is already enough of a hassel at HB, they have the back the Queen of Esquimalt halfway out into the chanel wasting trip time, A Spirit would be worse because of its size.

Spirit are more manoverable than a v-class because of their size and being newer.

Yes I bet there is a long waiting list to get on the Cumbie! She is the best of the gulf island ferries! They should get rid of the Mayne Queen on the Gulf Islands run and bring down her sister the Capilano then there would be the two sisters on the gulf islands run.
Did anyone hear about the two ferry employees that were taken to hospital after an accident with some equipment on the Queen of New West during a sailing from Duke Point to Tsawwassen I think it was on Sunday. I read an article in the local newspaper about it. Just curious if anyone else heard about that??

Spirits while manuvuerable would still waste time, just as the fast cats did. If there was such a thing as a double-ended cat they'de be able to have a 1.5 hour schedule

idon't really know if the cumbie or the cap could be used on a run out of tsawwassen. the bowen has only been able to do route 9a in the last couple of years as she was never certified for that bit of more open water. i don't know if it was just a certification thing or if they had to upgrade anything. maybe engineer or noleaksyet can answer this.

The Cumberland is not certified to carry passengers past sturdies bay, no deep sea trips to tsawwassen lol. They were looking into changing her class but havent heard any thing as of yet.
