If you guys miss too many days, you'll have to add them to the end of your year in June. Once we missed a day at the beginning of the year and we had to stay 5 extra minutes every day all year.

Cascade,
The Ski season hasn't started yet, but snow has started falling on the mountains. I'm expecting it to be busy on Grouse as always. Grouse will always have a huge market for its Snow School, teaching both beginners and training new instructors. With the big push for skiing in BC and the Olympics coming in just over 4 years, the North Shore Mountains will likely expand, along with Whistler-Blackcomb. Cypress, in West Van, is hosting a few events and is making new runs and building new lifs over the next few years. I'm not sure what Grouse is going to do as they just built a new lift 2 years ago. They've been doing some "summer grooming". Whistler just announced that they will be building a new Gondola that will link the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler, and the Major Lodge on Blackcomb, and it's Scheduled to open in 2008.

I just heard on BCTV that the Labour Relations board has passed Bill 12 for the teachers not to go on strike tomorrow, and are ordering them to go back to work. I don't think the teachers are going to listen to that. Because all 4 of my teachers were willing to go on strike no matter what tomorrow, and a few of them said they would even get arrested over it all if they had to. So it's going to be interesting how this all plays out!

The dollar is cheap against the pound right now and with Europe starting to cost more - plus not sure about the snow levels - had real problems the last couple of years with snow. I think you will find a lot more people with english accent's on your slopes this coming year... So Strong Skier - your english lesson start now....... How do you order a Beer in the Queens english?? It's good that I could see more Brits here on the slopes, because they seem to learn skiing really well. now for Strong Skier's attempt at ordering a beer in the Queen's english: *clears throat* Excuse me, Bar-keep. Would you be so kind to please bring a pint of beer?

yum... baked beans on toast. The cooks at Grouse don't even know what a full english is and they generally make good stuff there like Lasagna, burgers, Pizza, pasta, poutine.

Well a week wouldn't be so hard to catch up from, but any longer and it's just going to make everything alot harder...Am I the only student on here who doesn't want this strike to last any longer? Well I guess it's probably because I really want to graduate this year, and not have to worry about high school "drama" anymore.

I say it ain't gonna happen Powell River had a strike for 6 weeks once in 1993 (only Powell River) and they didn't have any extra days of school at the end of the year

I would like updated news on this thread of when school will start again, I do not want to be a complete idiot and turn up at school with everything I need when School is closed, or even I do not go to school thinking that the schools are closed when they are open. Q

Depends what district you're in now I think. I heard some schools in Vancouver are returning. But my districts site says schools out for the rest of the week and it almost looks like next week is out too. You can usually find your district site to see what is going on in your district with the strike by searching district #).bc.ca . For example the Nanaimo district site is.... www.sd68.bc.ca/

I'm hearing different rumours from everyone I talk to. I'm hearing now we'll be going back to school on November 1st. Then another rumour is this is going to be our summer, so we would run until the end of August just in time to start another year the week after. I sure hope this isn't our summer, I don't even want to be out of school right now! I never thought I would say that, but I just want to move on to college to get a career! I don't see why the teachers think they can get a 35% raise. Nobody else in BC is getting that as far as I know.
