The Century is an older ship and it is smaller too! I do prefer the Infinity or the Millennium!

A rapid-fire sequence that show the effect of evening sun and reflection on a ship's windows. - Celebrity Century leaving Nanaimo, in evening of September 26, 2012. The 3rd photo was just for an instant, which is why I find evening sun so fascinating. ----------------

Century, just before leaving. That ugly brick of a ship and her sister must be the most photographed things on the forum this month! Look at this thread, this entire last page of photos is the same looking ship, over and over again! Maybe they deserve their own thread in the cruise ship board, since they're obviously frequent visitors to our local area? PS: Your photos aren't ugly though, just the ship. My post could have been read wrong before... ;D no, Flug, all your photos absolutely suck.

The Century is not the greatest looking ship I like the Infinity much better. The Century is older and yeah I dont think she looks as nice as the other Celebrity ships. I bet she is nice on the inside though as all Celebrity ships are quite nice on the inside. I know the Infinity was.

I do post a lot of Celebrity cruise ship photos, but I do so out of necessity, not out of want. I've tried to post fewer Celebrity, as just another rat in the rat race, but I just can't. I get bored of life if I'm not doing something (like posting photos of Celebrity ships) every now and again, and these somethings are what keeps me rolling. I don't see myself stopping any time soon, no matter how long it keeps me out of the Ernie's Hour fan-club. I'm not changing my lifestyle for a title. Sounds rather foolish to me

Sapphire Princess of Princess Cruises @ Canada Place, Vancouver, BC - 25 August 2012. photo © WCK-JST by Wett Coast, on Flickr Sapphire Princess viewed from SeaBus - 25 August 2012 photo © WCK-JST by Wett Coast, on Flickr Yes, in my opinion, these Princess Cruises vessels look more shipshape than the X-boats (e.g. Celebrity Cruises). Apparently Gary Bannerman, who also was somewhat of an 'expert' on cruise ships, is supposed to have said that the 'X' up by the funnel meant 'Don't Go' - i.e. avoid this cruise line. I think that it was more than just ship appearance that made him feel this way.

Today I had the fun experience to driving my parents to the Nanaimo waterfront so that they could see the cruise-ship (Sapphire Princess) that is in-town today.
We found a couple of view spots to park the car and look at the ship through the car-windows. My dad noticed the funny Star Trek Enterprise pods by the funnel. They liked the "big white ship".
It was nice to share my ship-hobby with my parents and they enjoyed seeing some parts of Nanaimo that they hadn't seen for a while.

I have cleaned up & enhanced Mr. Awesome's photo just a bit (see attachment). I believe that this is the Vision of the Seas though the name is not clear enough to actually read. The date embedded with the photo is 10 August 2006 which is probably the date the photo was taken. I have done all of the following to the photo: - straightened the horizon - cropped to a 16x9 aspect ratio - cloned out hair showing on bottom of photo - increased contrast - darkened highlights - etc. Thank you for trying to tell me her name.

My first experiment with time-lapse video editing.
Celebrity Century departing Nanaimo on September 26, 2012.
- this is 2 videos combined, so there is a gap-jump in the middle. (mind the gap)

Mr. A. C, you are making progress with these photos. I do have a few suggestions, though, as to how you can make them better yet ... 1 - You are getting the horizon level and that is good. Now you need to consider cropping the photo so as to better 'frame' the ship. In this photo you could crop out most of the area to the right of the ship. The same goes for the expanse of sky above the ship, and water in the foreground. Cropping closely around the ship though is not always a good idea. If, for example, the ship is in a very scenic setting then don't crop (e.g. see some of Mr. Flugel Horn's work on this and the previous page of this thread). 2 - Please include some text with each photo telling us where & when the photo was taken, and who the photographer is. I believe that this is not your photo because it was taken in 2006. You should always credit the photographer and you need to have their permission to post their photo. You need to do this on your Flickr site also. The photo title 'DSCN1052' is less than useful, especially considering that you have entered nothing for a description either. If you keep working at it than slowly but surely your photo contributions will improve such that we might consider you one of the WCFF's 'master photo contributors'. I look forward to seeing that.

:)while not a particularly handsome ship, Vision of the Seas was a good seven day Alaska trip for all the dot. family, a few days after my wife and I did a short innaugral voyage on the newly christened Island Princess in 2003! mrdot.

A couple photos of Norwegian Pearl arriving at Nanaimo, BC. - May 11, 2013. I'm far away on the hill above Vancouver Island University, I'm facing the morning light, there's hazy fog on the water and these are stills taken from video I shot. - hence the poor quality. With Carrier Princess

It's Norwegian Cruise Lines week at Nanaimo, BC. - Yesterday was the Pearl and today is the Sun. We then get a double-shot of Jewell on Tueday & Thursday. Here is Norwegian Sun, leaving Nanaimo at 5:00pm on May 12, 2013. - I am on a sidewalk on College Drive, Nanaimo (approx 1155 College Drive, if you want to Google-map it) With Quinsam and the Beacon condo tower Nice Nanaimo harbour shot, with Gabriola Island's ferry landing visible in the background. Meeting Al Bundy This next photo shows some of my favourite ship-spotting locations. - Photo is shot from College Drive, overlooking Nanaimo harbour. I mainly go there for cruise-ship arrivals & departures. - bottom island is Protection Island, showing the blue-roofed "Dinghy Dock pub", the floating pub that is also the Protection Island ferry landing. This is the gateway to shipspotting on that island, where it's a 20-minute walk to Gallows Point light. - behind the ship is Malaspina Galleries point on Gabriola Island, another favourite photo location of mine. - at top of photo is Entrance Island lighthouse, and this is just off Orlebar Point on the far side of Gabriola Island, and is yet another favourite ferry photo location of mine. The Nanaimo harbour area in front of where Newcastle & Protection Islands meet is a floating community of live-aboard boaters.
