This post is going to get a bit photo heavy, but here are a bunch of pictures I captured of Holland America's MS Westerdam, the ship I was traveling on in my most recent Alaska cruise. Some quick observations: 1. The ship is fairly well organized, and the cabins were nice. 2. I was impressed with the friendly nature of the service and restaurant staff, not to mention how orderly everything is. 3. The ship is very clean. The maintenance staff was doing a little touch-up painting on the Promenade deck while we were cruising, but the rest of the ship looks to be in tip-top condition. The restrooms are very clean, and because of Noro-Virus outbreaks in previous years, they have hand sanitizing stations everywhere. They take a lot of precautions now. 4. I can't say I care too much for a lot of the decor on Westerdam. It gets to be a little over-the-top in some areas, but it's a very comfortable ship. Now, on to some vessel stats before I start posting the pics: MS Westerdam was built in 2004 and is registered in Rotterdam Length: 950ft Width: 106ft Draft: 26ft Gross Tonnage: 82,000lbs Engines: 5 diesel, 1 gas turbine Bow Thrust: 3 units, 3400bhp Props: Azipods 25,000 bhp ea. Max. speed: 23kts Decks: 11 Passengers: 1,848 Crew: 800 Guest Elevators: 14 Boarding MS Westerdam in Seattle, Aug 4, 2012 Deck 9 - Aft Lido Deck Views of the Aft Lido Pool on Deck 9 Lido Pool - mid ship on Deck 9 - it has a retractable roof which can be closed, as it was all of the time we were in Alaska with the roof closed Deck 10 - Observation Deck View aft from Deck 11 - Forward Observation Deck Deck 3 has a promenade which goes all the way around the ship. We walked this deck a lot The black bay windows house the outside elevators which are glass so you can see out Ship's Funnels View aft from Deck 11 Sports Courts Forward superstructure and Bridge from bow deck Ship's Bell There she is - MS Westerdam anchored in Sitka Tenders coming back to the ship in Sitka Docked in Juneau In Juneau along with Golden Princess and MS Zuiderdam. Celebrity Infinity's tenders can be seen in this photo. Infinity was anchored out in the bay. At dock in Victoria Our Stateroom. We had an outside cabin with a veranda. It was quite nice. view from our veranda when we were docked in Seattle Crow's Nest Forward Observation Lounge and Explorations Cafe/Library - Deck 10 Deck 10 Forward Stair Landing just behind the Crow's Nest Observation Lounge Lit Ceiling Panels in Explorations Cafe - Deck 10 Lido Resaurant - Deck 9 Aft Deck 9 midship stair/elevator lobby area Fancy elevator doors Forward elevator/stair lobby - Deck 5 The Atrium - Deck 3 Looking down The Atrium from Deck 3 to Deck 1 Queen's Lounge - Deck 2 Vista Lounge - accessed at the back from Deck 2, slopes down to Deck 1 (balconies are on Deck 3) I didn't get pictures of a lot of the lounges or on-board shops. I forgot to get ones of the Vista Dining Room, but this should give you a pretty good idea of what Westerdam looks like.

???Don't know what Cruise Ships. Well, if you're going to post some photographs that are mysteries, you probably should give us some clues. ie. - when were the photos taken - where were the photos taken Or at least tell us something about the photos. What is the special thing about that second photo (the out-of-focus, partially-showing one) that made you want to post it here?

I belive that's Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas. Not quite. This is actually a member of the Vision Class, which includes the Vision, Grandeur, Rhapsody, Splendour, Enchantment, and Legend. So Karl is likely correct.

I have cleaned up & enhanced Mr. Awesome's photo just a bit (see attachment). I believe that this is the Vision of the Seas though the name is not clear enough to actually read. The date embedded with the photo is 10 August 2006 which is probably the date the photo was taken. I have done all of the following to the photo: - straightened the horizon - cropped to a 16x9 aspect ratio - cloned out hair showing on bottom of photo - increased contrast - darkened highlights - etc. Attachments:

I stand corrected, thanks for clearing that photo up, WCK. It is indeed Vision of the Seas.

Doing some research on the internet I was able to determine that Vision of the Seas was on the Alaska run during the summer of 2006. Apparently it left Seattle each Friday and called in at Victoria on its last day (Thursday) prior to arriving back in Seattle on the next morning. August 10th, 2006 was indeed a Thursday.

Only Mike is crazy enough to be up at that hour photographing ships! lol! I sure wouldent be up that early unless I was going somewhere! Stupid solar and lunar schedules! Why doesn't the force of the universe design a better sunrise time that makes it easier for me to photograph it !! (I think that's how you'd say it....haha) ;D I Am Content with my lot. ahhhhhhhhhh (that's a quiet, peacefull ahhh, not the loud screaming kind, haha)

Afternoon photos of Celebrity Millennium at/near Nanaimo, on September 15, 2012. View from College-Heights subdivision ---------------- After her 5:00pm departure, she sails north for a short while, past the entrance to Departure Bay. (Later, she turned and headed slowly south for Victoria) - I was at a dinner-party, so I missed the departure from the harbour. But after she sailed north a bit, I was able to get some photos from my friend's deck. Unlike the Costa Concordia, she was not tempted by the sirens on the rocks (these are the 5-Fingers rocks, off of Pipers Lagoon).
