For December I've decided to do something different. We are going to have 2 header photos for this month. One being a ferry (read below) and the other will be one for the Christmas Holidays. Here's how it will go.
For our regular flagship we will be doing Any Alaska State Ferry I know there are a few of you that have photos of some so this is you chance to share them with us. This flagship will be displayed until December 21st. Nominations for the Flagship will close on November 29th at 12:00PM PST with voting taking place on November 30th.
I am also looking for a Christmas/Winter themed banner to be displayed from December 21st to January 1st, 2009. For the Christmas banners, please send them to me via PM. Nominations for this will close on December 19th @9:00PM PST.
The regular rules below apply for both banners, however you may send me the Christmas Holiday banner in full size.
The maximum dimensions accepted are 960 x 240. The minimum dimensions are 840 x 200.
Please post a copy of your entry in reduced size (less than 800 pixels wide) with a link to the larger, full sized image.

Two entries, to which I might add some identifying text at some point: M/V Columbia at Bellingham on 27 June 2008: Full size banner can be found HERE. M/V Columbia, shown here in Bellingham with a bonus, the M/V Wenatchee: Full size banner can be found HERE.

Are only the current members of the AMH in play, or can we use some of the retirees? ;D

I have chosen three AMHS 'headers' from about a dozen that you will find on my photobucket site: s90.photobucket.com/albums/k268/wetcoastkidjst/AMHS/?albumview=slideshowAll photos were taken this past July while I traveled via the AMHS from Skagway to Prince Rupert. Let me know if you feel strongly that one or more photos not shown below should be 'entered' for this month. All photos by JST ©

Great entries WCK, but I think that the fourth picture of the Kennicott at Wrangell should be on your ballot because it shows the whole ship as opposed to your current picture which cuts off the hull. It makes it look a little top heavy, but that's just my opinion.

I love your Columbia pic, WCK. I agree with Canucks, though. There are other entries in your Photobucket selection which I think you should also put up. I particularly like Pic #3, showing the Kennicott from the stern, and the snow-capped mountains in the background - very Alaska. I also like your #6 & #9 pics, both of Taku. I think those ones are even better than the Taku one you posted. In any case, your pictures are going to be tough to beat ;D

Here goes my first attempt!
Moderator Edit: 800 pixel picture will not show on the forum due to the picture being located in a sub of a sub-folder on Photobucket (in other words, URL is too long). Please create a new folder and try uploading the picture again.

I think the the problem is related to either the web address of link is too long, or the file name has the word 'banner' in it. Try changing the file name from 'columbiabanner' to 'columbiahdr'. This change shortens the address by 3 characters and eliminates the word 'banner'.

Thanks WCK, Flugel Horn and Scott for your help! I may be able to navigate the narrows, work out a celestial star fix and other fascinating nautical feats, but my computer skills run on a slow bell. Thanks again!

M/V LeConte, I love each and every one of your banners. But I hate to say that you must pick a maximum of 3 that you wish to put on the ballot. You currently have 8 posted. So if you could pick your top 3, then let us know which ones they will be so we can edit your posts. Cheers.

Darn!
Looks like I need to re-read the rules! It's like having to pick which kids you like best. I guess I'll go with... Fairweather, Taku Sunset Arrival and LeConte in Tenakee Inlet.
Thanks for everyone's patience while my learning curve steepens.
