I sent you a PM about this but havent got a response. Why are little deck extentions on the Alberni closed off while underway?

I've wondered that too. Why are they Closed off? It makes no Sense to have them closed off.

It might matter a little, especially considering the Queen of Alberni's, let's just say, 'unique' design post-lifting, because of how far back the wheelhouses are aswell as how tall the superstructure obscuring their views is between them and the bow of the boat at the water line.

I sent you a PM about this but havent got a response. Why are little deck extentions on the Alberni closed off while underway? My apologies Karl. Never saw the pm until you mentioned it. The reason the appendages are locked out during the crossing is that passengers were out there smoking and as most of them do, instead of using ashtrays provided, they just flicked their butts over the side or in some cases onto the upper car deck. As a result, out of safety concerns, they are locked.

Who is able to make Saturday the 14th instead of the Sunday the 15th? I know Scott said Sunday is better, because things are kinda crazy at work and I dont know if I can get that Sunday off. I thought I could and I still might be able to but I dont know for sure. Sat would be better as I am already off. Can you make Sat the 14th Flugel??? I know Graham and Chris have pretty flexible schedules so I am assuming either of you guys could go either Sat or Sunday. What about you doug?? Dane?? A few of us might have to go Saturday and whoever cant Sat can go Sunday but I guess that defeats the purpose really of all going together, lol! I will still try though and get that Sunday off. Hopefully I can!

Sat. Sept.14th is a "No" for me; I've got a prior commitment.
So I vote for the 15th.....but that's just me. If I can't make it, too bad for me.

Looks like Saturday would really screw it all up. Sorry Karl, we'll have to do this on Sunday the 15th.

I could not go if it was to be scheduled on Saturday, as I have to work. Sunday would be the only day that would work for me, as well...

ok so who is still planning on going on the Alberni trip on Sunday??? So far it's me Chris, Scott, Flugel, Graham, who else?? We should meet at 12:15pm when the New West arrives then decide if the weather is as Saturday the forcast is for showers it its nice and not raining if we should go to Jack Park. I dont think we would be able to see the Alberni arrive from there as we would have to get back so we have time to catch the sailing. What do you guys think?? I did look into a roundtrip on the Quinsam in between but that dosent work as the times dont really work out for that short of time we would be waiting around.

I hope you guys have a great trip!
A quibble on the Fraser River bridges: Chilliwack could sail to her namesake town. New Westminster's 1904 rail bridge and the CP span at Mission are swing bridges. Lean on the horn (if your radio's busted) and they'll open.
Chilliwack could be a fine river boat once her Route 40 assignment is over. Her Z-drives could jink her around the Fraser's sandbars all the way to Yale.
