"On Saturday, May 13, the MV Queen of Burnaby is expected to return from refit to resume regular service on the Comox – Westview route.
The vessel will resume service with the 6:30 am sailing from Comox.
Updated information will be provided if there is any change in the expected return date of the Queen of Burnaby."
And with the Burnaby Refit Out of the Way that means...
"On Sunday, May 14, the 126-vehicle M.V. Queen of Tsawwassen is expected to begin service as the summer vessel on the Saltery Bay – Earls Cove route.
The vessel will resume service with the 3:30 pm sailing from Saltery Bay.
Updated information will be provided if there is any change to the expected return date of the Queen of Tsawwassen."
If she still doesn't have the solarium behind the bridge Expect Photos

That's a half a month at Deas for MV Queen of Chilliwack, thank god.

Queen of Burnaby departed Deas sometime between 6 and 8pm. Today I passed by on Hwy 99 going north and she was still there; on the way back, just two hours later, she was gone.
...I'm going to try to catch the Queen of Chilliwack on her way to Deas; can anyone confirm that she's headed to Deas and not, say, Departure Bay?

Well, she's already done her drydock work, which was about a month or two ago. So I'm sure she'll be on her way down to Deas either sometime tonight, or sometime tomorrow morning. Unless they decide to keep her at Saltery Bay or something.

I'm thinking that they'll need some time to de-store her, and at a major enough terminal to handle such a task. I wouldn't be surprised if she stopped at Tsawwassen first, as she was recently re-stored there.

from newspaper "Powell River Peak" on 07/26/2006: ============================ Half-full ferry leaves riders behind Luke Brocki - Peak Reporter 07/26/2006 BC Ferries blames historical traffic projections for stranding 10 vehicles, two motorcycles and two walk-on passengers overnight in Comox last week. Numerous travellers wanting to board the final sailing at the Little River-Westview crossing July 14 were left behind as the ferry left the terminal half full due to safety regulations. "This is a part of our highway," said passenger Dave Lemieux. Unfortunately, people in power aren't looking at it like that. They're running it like a business." A resident of Nanaimo, Lemieux travelled to Comox on motorcycle, arrived 25 minutes before the scheduled departure and was told he couldn't board. "We certainly apologize if people got left behind," said Deborah Marshall, director of media relations with BC Ferries. Each vessel in the fleet is governed by Transport Canada regulations having to do with evacuating the ferry, she said. The Queen of Burnaby has two different licences. A B licence for 324 passengers and 18 crew, and an A licence for 659 passengers and 25 crew. ---------------------- (to read the entire article, click on the link below to the Peak website)www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=16972312&BRD=1998&PAG=461&dept_id=221589&rfi=6

Unbelievable. I was in Little River last week, and I saw it leave half empty, but it usually leaves that way. Also, sometime last week, the last round trip of the day was cancelled. But, I was a Saratoga Speedway about halfway to Campbell River, so oh well.

They Should really have the bigger liscense for the first and the last sailing to and out of Powell River. On my grade 7 band trip last year. It turns out we had two big groups of grade 7s and grade 8s on the same ferry so we had to wait an hour till the ferry finally got the right amount of crew

Unbelievable. I was in Little River last week, and I saw it leave half empty, but it usually leaves that way. That's half the problem. The already-built / in-place infrastructure, the relatively-substantial sized Queen of Burnaby, is on the route, but BCFS doesn't seem to be paying for the crew necessary to usitilize the full potential of the infrastructure (the vessel, in this case). Considering that this is the busiest season, I would take this as a signal that this is the highest level of service that BCFS plans to offer on this route from now on, and presumably service levels will only go down from here as demand slows; to me they seem to be trying to set a precedent of lower service levels in order to increase profits.

Well when I was on the Burnaby on Saturday, it was just short from being full on the car deck. It's a little bit more spaced out on the main passenger deck, seeming they took out the Snack Bar, and moved the Gift shop beside the cafeteria. Then there's only one cash register for both the gift shop and cafeteria. Plus the two upper lounges are completely empty and closed up. But I think the ship is perfect on the route, as the people that were onboard the ferry were quite comfortably spaced out, so it didn't seem too full, nor too empty. Imagine if they shortened the capacity even more, then there would be some problems.

That's why I love that boat - good size, and it's really nice inside. I espescially like seeing one cashier for the gift shop and the cafeteria.

There actually can be another Cashier you know. But I do agree that the Queen of Burnaby Definatly Suites the Powell River-Comox Route. The Gift Shop where the Cafeteria is makes more Space for passengers. I wonder what will happen when she is rennovated though? Her cafeteria should stay mostly the same layout with new seating though the Gift Shop though might be much different though the could not have the space for it if they want it bigger so It could be in the Same place as the Nanaimo's. But I still think that the Burnaby is Missing Something. Might just be that the gift shop isn't where it should be. At least the Arcade is enclosed. That could move though. The Ship will probably match the Nanaimo though. I might want to take some Comparison Photos before and after she goes in.

The problem is that all her amenities are at the back, whereas they should be in the middle, thus making life easier for passengers to access the amenities.

The problem is that all her amenities are at the back, whereas they should be in the middle, thus making life easier for passengers to access the amenities. I'm not sure I follow this logic? How many stairwells are there in a B, 2 or 3? Wherever these things are placed it will be 'inconvenient' for someone, but frankly if you don't have the ability to get to the end of the ship the likely hood of the gift shop of cafeteria being of primary interest is more likely than not rather low.

On the V's I know there are 3 stairwells. By the Cafeteria, Mid Ship and the front. I would think the B's are the same.

All the Seven Sisters [V's & B's] originally had two stairwells. They now all have three. The middle one was added as part of the stretching process.

And the "C"s have four up from the car deck I think. Between Deck 5 and 6, I think they have eight?
